Saturday 2nd March 2024 10am – 4pm

Katie Ellis (pictured), Shipshape and Bristol Fashion Gin founder and distiller is co-organising an Alchemists Circle women’s mini retreat day with Reiki professional Martina Dodder. They would love your support in letting your friends know about it or even better treating yourselves to a ticket!

Mr Tipple burned motorbike rubber for the last time on Monday. And yes, that is the vicar leading the funeral cortege on his Vespa!

What a royal weekend!

18 August 1932–14 April 2023
On Friday 14 April I lost my dad when he peacefully passed away at home. A kind, generous and good natured man who always had a smile and positive word to share with anyone passing by. He will be much missed by his two children, three grandchildren, three great-granddaughters and his many friends.
Although he was cared for by an excellent team from Network Healthcare and very experienced nurses from Sirona he had an underlying infection that he couldn’t shake off. He also had prostate cancer and the frailty of old age against him.
His funeral will be at All Saints Church, Long Ashton on Monday 15 May at 11am where he will be reunited with his wife Yvonne.

YVONNE GOVER
23 August 1931–23 December 2022
On Friday 23 December I lost my mum when she peacefully passed away at home. She was the kindest and most beautiful person I have ever known. Born the sixth of eleven children in 1931, during an economic depression and shortly before the outbreak of World War II, she certainly grew up in tough times. Following the big blitz of Bristol by the Germans she was evacuated, from Whitehouse Street in Bedminster, to Maerdy in South Wales and spent eighteen months away from her family. Soon after she returned home to Bristol her father and two of her brothers were tragically killed in a collision with an army lorry driven by an inexperienced teenager.
Then she met my dad, married him in 1955 and loved him every day for the rest of her life. In 1958 they moved to their dream new home in Long Ashton and lived happily in the village. They each delivered fresh milk daily to residents for nearly forty years in their beloved Land Rovers. In 1976 they bought what is now the Little Tipple and she cheerfully served customers up until two weeks ago. She was proud to say she was still on the payroll at 91! She loved children and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. But she also knew how to mother as well as be a mother and mothered plenty of others throughout her life. WIPER & TRUE PLUM PUDDING PORTER
We have a very exciting new addition to our range today. A warming, dark beer that’s perfect for the colder months. This hearty porter showcases a rich malt base, layered with plums, cherries and blackcurrants, all topped off with a sprinkling of cinnamon and lemon zest. The end result is a wholesome beer packed with caramelised sugar, festive fruit flavours and a toasted finish. A young Philip Cox started in the wine trade working at the Little Tipple. A nephew of Little Tipple owner Yvonne Gover, Phil moved to Romania in 1989 and is now that country's largest exporter of Romanian wine. Not bad for an ex-Bristol Grammar School boy!
