'Like' to show your support! Almondsbury Community Shop started life as a trial once-a-month shop in the local Old School Hall.

The level of interest was such that a lease was taken at 14 Church Road and the shop has been running here since March 2009. Now, trade is busy and a wide range of lines are sold, with an emphasis on good quality, locally sourced products. Staff are all volunteers and as are the Committee and all ages are represented.

Today, our volunteer group has been awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service - the MBE for volunteer groups.

What an honour, and recognition of the value our wonderful team brings to our community.

We collect change regularly for a number of charities. One of them, BRACE, just sent us this lovely thank you -
“Good morning, I'm the Community Fundraiser for BRACE Dementia Research. One of your volunteers, Margaret Stennard, is a long term supporter of BRACE and brought in the collection pot from the shop. Having counted it this morning, it contained £41.54 which is a great amount. I thought you might like to post it on your FB page.

Quite big news for us (!) - we have reduced our fruit and veg prices almost across the board - not quite at Aldi levels yet but you may be surprised. Come and have a look - remember you can buy a couple of mushrooms if you like instead of a whole punnet which may get wasted!
Deliveries from Bristol Market on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday keep things fresh in our smart veg chiller.
