This weeks special by the glass is the 2018 Tradition from Domaine Macle. A Chardonnay / Savagnin blend made in the classic oxidative Jura winemaking style.

A few weeks ago we opened the blanc from Pierre Gonon so this week we’re thought we’d go with his more famous rouge. On by the glass (at pretty much cost price!) from Saturday lunch time until the bottle runs out.
On Sunday the 23rd of June we’re running a wine tasting masterclass where we’ll teach you the knowledge and skills to really feel confident when tasting wines. From understanding structure to assessing acidity levels, you’ll be guessing blind wines in no time!

For the full time position we are looking for a manager to look after the shop and bar and help drive us forward into a year of great opportunity. The ideal candidate will have worked in a wine bar and retail setting for 2+ years and have management experience. You will be heading up a team of enthusiastic staff and will work alongside Martin to curate an amazing wine portfolio and array of deli produce to go with. For the part time role (between 20 - 30 hours per week) we’re looking for someone to work bar shifts as well as as shop shifts. We have Crémants from different regions of France, Champagne (of course) or some slightly more interesting sparkling wines. We've got you covered. MARTIN’S TOP PICKS TO SEE IN 2022: Vouette Et Sorbée, Fidèles, 2018 For something top end and special for the new year - we would recommend this blanc de noirs Champagne from the southern region of Champagne. It's rich, has a red berry fruit profile and is absolutely delicious. It's a Grower Champagne, so it's produced on the vineyard by the winemaker. Azienda Agricola Divella, Nini, NV This is Italy's answer to Champagne from Franciacorta DOC, Lombardy. It's made with Pinot Nero and Chardonnay. It's a very subtle pink sparkling wine made in the Champagne method. It's very special, light, delicate and delicious.

It's full of sour cherry, has a lot of spice, sweet but not overbearing. The aromatic spice and fruit profile make it a great match for Christmas pudding. A stellar choice. Domaine Traginer, Banyuls, 2018 This one has a slightly different expression of sweet red wine. It's a fortified sweet Grenache from Banyuls, a famous region of southern France, sitting on the Spanish border. It's luscious with dark chocolate flavour profiles and red berry forest fruits and is fortified with brandy, giving it a bit more body and texture. Cheese, Glorious Cheese 🧀 The cheeseboard is possibly the best part of Christmas, so make sure you're bringing the goods this year. Martin's dream cheeseboard consists of a blue, a hard and a soft. We’re open from 10am - 7pm today! 🕰 Blu di Capra This is a really interesting cheese called Blu di Capra from Northern Italy. It's made in the Gorgonzola style but uses goat's milk instead. It has all the creaminess and fruitiness you would usually get from Gorgonzola but with that slight tang from the goat's milk. Comté I love comté too much not to have it on our ultimate cheeseboard. I would choose an 18-month comté which is nutty, sweet and has a few crystals forming from the ageing process. It's a no brainer. Truffle Brie You can't not have this on your cheeseboard. It's indulgent, rich, creamy, earthy and has all the delicious truffliness. Wine for the Rule Breakers 😈 If you’re having roast beef for Christmas, you’re going to want something rich, red, heavy and heady to match up with that powerful flavour: Ktima Ligas, Bucephale, 2018 We would recommend this interesting wine from northern Greece, named after Alexander the Great's horse, for a unique bottle that pushes the boat out. It's made from a grape called Xinomavro, an indigenous Greek varietal similar to Nebbiolo. This wine has the essence of Barolo on the nose - it's tarry, with crushed flowers and red berries. Its richness, power, and earthiness are an excellent match for red meat. Domaine La Berangeraie, Cuvee Juline, 2016 Or try the Berangeraie Cuvée Juline from Cahors, South West France, the home of malbec. It’s a blend of predominantly malbec with a little bit of Merlot in there. It’s dark fruited, it has richness and spice. The Merlot adds a touch of pluminess to the background.
