Was planning to share this with our customers but it’s not been a great few days, so looked in the fridge and this one was calling to me.

One of the special beers brought back from

Candy Bar Kiloton

An Imperial Dark Ale with Almond, Chocolate, Toasted Coconut and Cinnamon.

Rich and a flavour overload.

Really hit the spot this evening.

None of the flavours were overpowering

But a meal in a glass.

So, anyone who knows me knows I don’t like coffee in beer.

I love coffee

But not in chocolate, cake or cocktails.

And especially not iced or in beer.

But sometimes just sometimes you need to swallow it up and try another beer with coffee in it thinking this might just be the one to change my mind.

It certainly helps that the chocolate version of this beer is outstanding

On this occasion it doesn’t overpower the taste

It just adds a sight smokiness to the stout

Once again an excellent beer from which might just change my mind that coffee is not just another adjunct but something that can add to the flavour of what is a really good stout.

It’s understated and really does work.

So in conclusion, don’t always think you know (or don’t know) what you like.

And remember, the next beer might just be the best one you have ever had
