A long-awaited moment, as Douglas Laing's Strathearn distillery finally releases its Inaugural single malt whisky! Launched in April 2024, Strathearn Inaugural single malt whisky has been bottled without colouring or chill filtration at 50% and looks like a stunner. https://www.whisky-online.com/products/strathearn-inaugural-single-malt-2024

Strathearn distillery was founded in Perthshire in 2013 and taken over by Douglas Laing in 2019. There have been a handful of work-in-progress drams and indie bottlings, but this is the first full public release of Strathearn's Highland single malt whisky.

Strathearn is tiny and produces only one barrel of spirit a day. The distillery now uses only malt from the low-yielding heritage barley variety Maris Otter, preferring its clean, creamy character, and this Inaugural edition was a small batch of 32 casks comprising ex-bourbon barrels, virgin oak and sherry butts

Signatory Vintage have done it once again, with a slew of fabulous 100 proof editions to extend their ever so popular series. This time we have editions 12 - 16 from distilleries such as Auchroisk, Mannochmore, Miltonduff and a secret Speyside and Orkney.

If that wasn't enough Signatory have pull one out the bag with their new Exceptional Cask series - in which we have the 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions.

A quick update as we’ve just received the latest release from the Isle of Harris distillery! Harris’s first single malt The Hearach has been a huge hit since it first appeared last year, with stock of the first eight batches flying out the door.

Now it’s time for the next crop of Hearach. Batches 9-12, like their predecessors, were made with medium-peated Concerto barley and matured predominantly in bourbon casks from Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace, topped up with 15% Oloroso and Fino sherry casks for extra complexity.

Isle of Harris is a small distillery with a capacity of around 400,000 litres per annum, though current production is around half of that. These Hearach editions from Isle of Harris are small batch affairs, with each batch consisting of only around forty casks, so grab them while you can because stock is likely to be scarce for the foreseeable future.

Berry Bros & Rudd Spring 2024 Outturn is a concise but eclectic affair, with single cask and small batch drams from Craigellachie, Glenlossie, Ardmore and Knockdhu alongside a single cask from Sweden’s High Coast (formerly known as Box distillery) and a full strength Guyanese rum from Diamond Distillers.

Signatory Vintage have gone big once again, with a slew of fabulous Symington’s Choice and Cask Strength Collection single casks from the likes of Glenlivet, Caol Ila, Longmorn, Bunnahabhain and many more, including undisclosed Islay and Orkney distilleries.

There’s also Batch #1 of the fascinating Old School Malt, a blended malt whisky featuring over 100 distilleries including Port Ellen, Talisker, Brora and Macallan alongside unicorn distilleries like Pittyvaich, Dunglass and Killyloch - this remarkable dram married in sherry butts for over 26 years and seems destined to be a smash hit.

A 26-year-old Tobermory unpeated single malt whisky finished in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at full cask strength without colouring or chill filtration as the fourth of five planned Expressions in the distillery's Hebridean series.

The seeds of Tobermory's Hebridean series were sown several years ago, when a batch of Gonzalez-Byass Oloroso sherry casks originally earmarked for Tobermory 15-year-old was set aside for extended finishing.

Expression 1 in the Hebridean series was a Tobermory 23-year-old released in 2020 and new releases have appeared annually, all from the same batch of original casks but with each new Expression having had the benefit of a further year of finishing. Tobermory 26-year-old Expression 4 is the penultimate bottling in the Hebridean series and weighs in at a sturdy 49.2% cask strength.

Great news today, as the latest new editions from Signatory’s white-hot 100-Proof Editions range are here! After the roaring success of the first tranche of these sherry-matured 57.1% beauties, Signatory have done it once again, with five more big young drams from Glenrothes, Ben Nevis, Caol Ila, Glentauchers and Bunnahabhain’s peated malt Staoisha.

This 2014 Ben Nevis 8-year-old came from a small batch of sherry butts bottled at 46%, so it should be easy-drinking but still packed with flavour. Signatory's Ibisco decanters are a sure sign of quality and Ben Nevis has been on a roll for a few years now, so this won't last long.

This Isle of Harris Hearach island single malt whisky is a limited edition single malt with a medium peating level (14ppm) and was bottled at 46% without colouring or chill filtration after maturation for at least five years in predominantly ex-bourbon casks from Heaven Hill and Buffalo Trace, with 15% Oloroso and Fino sherry casks for balance and complexity.

**Wee Mongrel Blended Rum | Maple Syrup Cask Finish**

This special edition of Little Brown Dog Spirits Wee Mongrel rum was initially created by blending 8-year-old to 15-year-old rums from Panama, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic, but this special edition has also had an eight month finishing period in casks that previously held maple syrup, which may well be a first for the industry.

Wee Mongrel Maple Syrup cask finish was created, according to LBD, "with the sole intention of creating a Christmas Monster", and is a limited edition of 609 bottles at a hearty strength of 50% and was bottled without colouring or chill filtration. The perfect Christmas dram for sweet-toothed spirits lovers.

**Knockdhu 2013 | 10 Year Old Infrequent Flyers Single Cask**

A single cask Knockdhu 2013 bottled as a 10-year-old in 2023 without colouring or chil filtration by Alistair Walker Whisky Co. for the Infrequent Flyers series.

This 10-year-old Knockdhu 2013 was finished in a puncheon cask that previously held Pedro Ximenez sherry and yielded 640 bottles at an extremely chunky natural cask strength of 59.2%.

Indie Knockdhu is rare nowadays, with the vast majority of the distillery's available non-blending stock destined for official bottlings as An Cnoc. Expect plenty of delicious sticky-sweet cooked fruit and Christmas cake aromas flavours in this deep chestnut-coloured dram.

**Glen Grant 1948 70 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Single Cask**

This stunning 70-year-old Glen Grant 1948 from Gordon & MacPhail was the oldest ever bottling from the distillery at the time of release, and 72-year-old and a 74-year-olds from the same vintage were bottled subsequently.

This whisky was distilled on the 11th June 1948 and aged for 70 years in a first-fill sherry butt #2154 before being bottled on the 19th October 2018 with a yield of just 210 bottles at its natural cask strength of 48.6%.

**Caol Ila 1968 50 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Single Cask**

This exquisite Caol Ila 1968 from Gordon & MacPhail is, as far as we're aware, the oldest ever bottling of Caol Ila to date. It was distilled in 1968 and aged for over 50 years in refill sherry hogshead cask #4021901 before being bottled in 2018 with a yield of just 199 bottles at its extremely impressive natural cask strength of 52.5%.

A fabulous dram, full of lemon, ham and seaweed flavours, notes of marmalade and grapefruit, restrained but potent peat and a gloriously oily mouthfeel.

Batch 19/001 is a 1986 Scapa bottled in 2019 by G&M for their new and improved Connoisseur's Choice range.

This "upper range" with releases of single malts aged 30 years and above was launched to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice range.

G&M have also spiced things up and bottled this one at a natural strength instead of the usual 46%. This was matured for 33 years in a refill bourbon barrel that yielded just 65 bottles.

**Miltonduff 1990 31 Year Old Connoisseurs Choice Single Cask**

An extraordinarily dark, heavily-sherried single cask 1990 Miltonduff bottled in 2021 as a 31-year-old by Gordon & MacPhail for their Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength series.

As you'll probably have surmised already, Cask #19440 was a first fill sherry butt of Miltonduff 1990 31-year-old, and clearly a very active one at that. Cask #19440 yielded a generous 437 bottles at its tantalising natural cask strength of 54.6%, and you'll need to be very quick indeed if you want one.

**Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Chinese New Year 2024 Limited Edition**

A special edition version of Glenfiddich 21-year-old Gran Reserva released late in 2023 to celebrate the run-up to the Chinese New Year 2024.
