East Boldre Chapel Stores and Post Office Chapel Stores is a community owned and run shop and Post Office established in East Boldre's former Baptist chapel.

Our members raised £221,700 which, with a government grant of £229,500, donations and other grants funded the Chapel Stores project.

We finally have to say goodbye to Ian Evans, whose contract with us ends today and he will finally be starting his well earned retirement! Ian has served the local community for over 24 years and has helped support Chapel Stores with his invaluable retail expertise over the last year. We wish Ian and his family all the best.

There are a variety of tasks you can get involved in even if you can only commit an hour or more per week including: baking bread, shelf stacking, making sandwiches, gardening and maintenance. Thanks to Archie Kitcher's initial idea and his thorough planning and preparation East Boldre's first Christmas Show was a huge success and great community event. It raised an amazing £984.16 for Oakhaven Hospice.

Along with show entry fees and donations East Boldre Chapel Stores and Post Office contributed the proceeds of the shop's raffle, East Boldre Village Hall Coffee Morning team gave half of their takings and Sterling Gardens matched funded the entry fees. Some exhibitors also sold their entries and donated the proceeds.

Over 50 people took part with many entering multiple categories. The overall show winner was Debbie Cutler with Nic Slawson as runner up.

Just a reminder that the cafe will be open this Thursday 19th Dec 2-4pm in the Vestry. Take the opportunity to also pick up some of Christmas goodies from the shop while having your coffee and cake! It’s a busy weekend here in East Boldre! Today is the first East Boldre Christmas Show - a cookery and craft competition at the Village hall in aid of Oakhaven Hospice, with judging at 3pm. Good luck to all the entrants.

While in the Chapel Stores Vestry the Art and Craft fair is in its final days - ends this Sunday. So pop down and pick up some special gifts made by local artisans, they make great Christmas presents!

Our Christmas Arts and Crafts Fair is in fully swing and will be at the Vestry in Chapel Stores until Sunday 15th December, with a fantastic array of gifts made by local artists. Unfortunately, this means that our regular Thursday afternoon Vestry Cafe event will not be held on the 12th December, but will be back again on Thursday 19th 2-4pm. So hope to see you there.

We are starting to feel festive here at East Boldre Chapel Stores and Post Office and if our younger customers would like to write a letter to Father Christmas, to guarantee a reply your Christmas wish list needs to reach him at the North Pole by Monday 9th December.

Make sure the envelope is decorated so that it stands out, pop on a stamp and drop the letter off at East Boldre Chapel Stores and Post Office. We'll help to speed it on its way to Santa.
