Sadly, as some of you maybe aware we will be losing some of our neighbour's along Lakes Parade this year.

As disappointed as we are to see them leaving, we would just like to quash any rumours about ourselves. We shall be staying at our unit. My family and I have been part of the fixtures and fittings at the shop for 15 years and will continue to serve the community with both our shop and Post Office counters.

I would like to personally thank everyone for your concern at this time. We've worked hard to get to where we are now and will carry on working hard to keep the community our number one priority.

We are urgently looking for midweek morning paperboys/girls. Wage is £30 a week. It should only take between 45 minutes to an hour each morning. You must be 13 or older. if interested or for more details please pop into the shop or phone us on 01229 825812

Everyone at Lakes Parade would like to wish Linda all the best on her retirement. It’s such a shame to see another post office in the local area closing albeit hopefully only temporarily.

We are aware of an ongoing issue with regards to our telephone line. We have been told that our service provider is working on this and it will be back up and running ASAP.

Cumbria Police have been made aware of a technical issue with BT which is resulting in people being unable to make phones calls from landlines in areas across south and west Cumbria.

BT have notified police that the affected areas are:

Barrow
Cleator Moor
Harrington
Gosforth
Kirkbride
Seascale
Windermere

Affected members of the public may experience no dial tone and be unable to make outgoing calls, including dialling 999, from their landlines.

There is no reported impact on mobile phones or internet-based services.

BT engineers are working to resolve this as soon as possible.

Residents are encouraged to check on neighbours and vulnerable people in your community who may be unaware and may rely on their landlines.

We are looking for a sales assistant to work in our store on both the post office and main shop counter.

Experience working in a post office would be an advantage but not essential as any training would be given on the job.

Due to licensing laws, we are looking for a hardworking, reliable person over the age of 18.
