With it being the first week of December, we’re launching a Christmas charity appeal - and one that is close to home.
The back story: It’s about a year since Bottle & Co founder, Jay’s dad's health began declining quite rapidly resulting in being admitted to York hospital on Christmas Day then ultimately passing away on Jan 2nd.
What began as a prostate cancer diagnosis a few months earlier, worsened. But during those months dad (Steve) attended Castle Hill hospital in East Yorkshire. Each visit, he observed a ‘Bladder Scanner Bottleneck’ so embarked on fundraising to buy another machine to alleviate the impact on patients and the pressure put on the wonderful staff in having to wait for the bladder scanner to be available.
He got 1/4 of the way in raising £8,500 before his death but Jay’s family members, dads friends and community have continued to fund raise in his honour with the finish line now firmly in sight.
You may know from his obituary that Dad was a very supportive man in many ways and helped get Bottle & Co off the ground with some startup funding.
We appreciate that the belt is likely to be already tightened an extra notch this year but by buying a pint in Steve’s honour this Christmas, you can help to pay back the support and cross that finish line.

The answer: SOCTOPOD! An Imperial Sour IPA – brewed with Wander Beyond - you guessed it - as a mashup of Octopod. An outrageous behemoth of tropical tidal waves.
We’ve had this land along with a huuuuuge drop of other goodies from Edinburgh’s Vault City - featuring their Tasty Rainbow series consisting of 5 beers, each focusing on a different flavour and colour of skittles: Strawberry, Lime, Lemon, Orange & Blackcurrant.

As you drive or walk through Mapplewell, I think you’ll agree that the place looks gorgeous at this time of year despite the weather. And it’s thanks to everyone who organises and supports the Mapplewell Beer Festival.
Covid forced organisers to have a rethink from its original May date to instead coincide with the village lights switch on in 2021 - and what a success that has been!
Mapplewell was buzzing at the weekend. So many people came out in support whether to just see a lights switch on, get a little pressie from Santa and Maple Bear, visit the beer festival, a drink elsewhere or all of it! And everyone was in such lovely, high spirits. (And for us it was a real boost to Friday night's figures).
Let’s hope that December carries on that jovial momentum across this festive period. Thank you for turning out - and thanks to those volunteers who put in the hard graft ❤️

This DIPA unloads a huge whack of orange and mango juice with a dusting of lemon sherbert. Delivering top notch succulence and insane levels of juicy drinkability. Strataspheric!
There’s the 5.2% Pale Ale version still pouring on tap and plenty in cans too so pop over if you can - you need to try it!

Hunting out great beer, great breweries and making new connections. Bang The Elephant Brewing Co. have agreed to come and do a Meet The Brewer event in the new year so we’ll get that sorted :)
It was also great to see one of Dave’s casks on from Woodland brewing in Pen*stone.
