Trulli Salice Salentino is an Italian red wine made from grapes sourced from low-yielding vineyards in the Province of Lecce, in southern Puglia. It is a blend of 90% Negraomaro and 10% Malvasia Nera. It is bottled as a Salice Salentino DOP or Denominazione di Origine Protteta. The wine displays a deep violet colour, with pleasant earthy aromas of blackcurrants, vanilla and chocolate. The palate is velvety, elegant and complex. The finish is extremely well-balanced and persistent.

The Heartland “Illicium” name comes from Illicium Verum, the Latin name for Star Anise. Star Anise is the most frequently discovered spice note of this wine and the design on the label. The other meaning of Illicium is ‘Enticing’ as I am sure you will agree if you try this wine. It is a 50/50 blend of Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvignon.

The Heartland Illicium Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the same vines as the classic Heartland Spice Trader wine, while the Shiraz is from a highly prized premium single vineyard, usually reserved for the most premium of the Heartland red wines. The generosity & style of the 2016 vintage is outstanding, the varieties were fermented separately and aged for twelve months in barrel giving a balanced well structured premium wine.

Heartland Illicium Shiraz Cabernet is a fabulous glass of premium Australian red. The powerful and persistent fruit is layered with multifaceted spice and an accompaniment of lifted floral aromas. The bend of Shiraz Cabernet delivers a style of dense dark fruit within a structure of mellow oak in the background. The long finish predicts a wine that will entice & age for many years to come, so at £4.00 off the RRP per bottle ( RRP £13.99 ) this great premium Australian Heartland Illicium Shiraz Cabernet is outstanding value at £9.99
