Business meeting no longer need to happen in the shop I guess.

Aw man I could get used to these chill days off.

However the grind don’t stop and neither do we so it’s straight back to the depot to get our new layout organised.

We have a new desk area going in tomorrow to allows for impeccable organisation and for a comfy place to meet our lovely suppliers over a cuppa.

Leaflets will be arriving on Thursday so we will be starting the town when we are off from the hotel next week. Hoodies will also be arriving soon. 😁

Expect things to be done a little differently this time around.

Well that’s officially a wrap folks.

4 years 11 months and 2 weeks since first signing my Ocean Stores lease we have pulled the shutter for the final time.

What a journey we have been on these last 5 years. Literally from the highest highest of my life, to the lowest lows and back again.

I have given it everything I possibly could give since opening up. living with that “5%” mentality. Prepared to do whatever the f*** it takes to make this work.

Anyone who knew me growing up will tell you I always said while walking about my family’s hotels… One day I’m going to have own business and be the “bossman”

You guys have allowed me to live my dream dream for the past 5 years and I really can’t express in words how much that means to me.

All I needed was a chance and you gave it to me. Thank you ❤️

I have been through some tough times during the life of the shop but I got through it all with your support. You showed my love in a world where I was struggling to find it myself and gave me a constant safe place to escape the madness of this world. You were my reason to keep pushing everyday no matter what was unceremoniously dumped in our path. For a long time you were all I really had in life.

You have helped mold me from the teenager who opened the shop to the man you see moving on today.

I know I am a better person today then I was 5 years ago and for as long as I live I will always be here to help any of you in any way I can and offer leg up to those who need it.

By no means is this the end for us. We have not gone out of business and we have not run out of money. This is simple the best decision for myself and Lewis to make at this time and it is a new beginning, no where near its end.

Today I move on with my head firmly held high after everything that has been achieved at Ocean Stores.

I gave it my all and I will sleep like a baby knowing that tonight.

I’m only human and I might not always have shown it but I love each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart. Friends for life all of you.

From the Franks, to the Vivian’s, to the Gordon’s and everyone in between. You know who you are.

Oh and let’s not forget about the staff that have given it there all to serve you in ocean Stores. Past and present we’ve had some laugh and I wouldn’t do it with anyone else.

Especially the 3 special ones Lewis, Lucy and Erin. Legends 💙

When a plan turns into work, dreams become reality.

Our plan won’t be prefect and I’m sure it will need a little bit of tweaking along the way. But for now things are going in our favour and we will enjoy it while we can.

First taste of the new jobs completed today. Lewis and I have always had plans to expand into the hospitality game. With one unsuccessful attempt under our belts we have decided it is time to go back to the roots and get behind the bar to sharpen our skills for the next project.

Ocean Stores is starting to looks pretty empty now guys and we have pulled any stock we are keeping for the delivery service. All remaining stock you see on the shelves will now be 50% off.

Today at Easy Days delivery we had a lovely photographer from the local paper take some snaps of us 🤔 we finalised designs for our new uniforms set to arrived before next weekend and we finalised our first load of 10000 leaflets set to be dropped around your doors mid March.

Slowly but surley we are building our life’s bigger than ever before. One late night finish and McDonald’s diner at a time.

A little introduction to us.

Hi my name is Lewis and this is my business partner also called Lewis.

We are 21 and 24 years old and we are about to enter into our fifth year of business.

Any business owner will tell you “it’s not easy or everyone would be doing it.” After 5 years doing this I understand why this comment is made and our journey has been a similar one.

We will never claim to have done a perfect job and looking back there is a few things I’d like to have done different but we can’t and that’s life and we are moving on with it.

During this time we have turned from immature teenagers to respected young business owners and every single day between has been a learning curve.

With little to no experience Lewis and I have decided to modernise our business and change how we do things entirely.

We will no be an online only delivery service focusing on delivery the best local produce Ayrshire can offer directly to your front door. We have completely rebranded, bought new uniforms and organised leaflets for the first time ever, we with very little experience have built our own website on Shopify to make all this possible.

We have the journey of a lifetime ahead of us. A mountain begging to be conquered, which we will conquer.

We won’t claim to be perfect moving forward however we will promise from the bottom of our hearts to give it our all. Giving the very best effort we can to build our delivery business and serve all those who need it.

I came so close to loosing it all last year. Now I’m back in the healthiest mindset i have been in. Working in the career I have chosen, having a laugh with my best pals along the way.

Everything is going according to plan and life is really starting to look up for us both. Don’t even let anyone tell you hard work will not pay off in the end.

This is day number 1 of posting everyday until we take our business national.

WE ARE CLOSING DOWN 😢

I rememeber being told early in my business career.

“Son, always move with the times or the times will move you.”

My life prior to Ocean Stores is not one I am too proud of and is something I have worked very hard to keep quite.

So I made the very tough decision going again everything everyone else my ages was doing to walk the straight and narrow.

April 4 2019 armed with nothing but my little motorbike, my own 2 hands and an unbreakable determination for success and to show people what I was really capable of I began the 5 year long march into the unknown which has lead me to this point today.

What a journey of many ups and many downs we have had over the years.

I have sweated, working my fingers to the bone, showing up early everyday and working late at night to serve to community. I have bled both for charity and to protect my show. I have cried many really tears for those a customers who are no longer here to see the journey.

I became a man.

I could never have predicted the global pandemic what was going to be so viciously hurled in our direction.

20 years old with 2 options. Either take the easy option out, take money offer my the government and sit at home and do nothing. Or take no help whatsoever but instead stand up to be counted, stand up to serve customer and community. A no brained if ever there was one.

Stand up and be counted and never be temped by the easy option.

You guys may have noticed I have been keeping my life a litter quieter that usual these past few months and this is for good reason.

I have had a lot of thinking to do.

The world around us has changed so much in a short time. Costs have soared, pockets have shrunk and technology have cemented itself in every faucet of society.

Taking all this into account we have decided to close ocean stores to the public from 25 February 2024.

However there is a catch…

We are not saying goodbye to you all just yet. Instead we are rebranding and relaunching a delivery only online grocery service where we will still offer all the same amazing local products we do now.

This will be a partnership between Lewis 2 and myself as I have decided to gift him 25% of my business for the loyalty he has shown over the years.

Between now and our closing date we will update you with every possible detail you need to know about our delivery service.

So this is probably us signing off for the last ever time on the ocean Stores page, so here goes.

As both Lewis 2 and myself have had some intense working schedules recently personally with no days off since august I have decided it’s time for a little break for us both.

We will be closed on the 25th/26th December and the 1st/2nd January to have a well earn battery recharge.

‼️New Year’s Day dip returning at Ocean Stores January 1st 2024.

We want to start what is going to be an exciting year off one a big by raising some extra money to add to our boxing total for Harbour Ayrshire.

Harbour are an amazing local charity who aim to help and assist people recovering from addiction and help integrate them back into the community.

The stress and pressure of life can be so intense that I can break even the strongest of souls.

For me I was only 15 years old the first time I was introduced to hard drugs. What started off as it does for many as innocent partying with the boys soon became an 8 year battle that I still fight to this day.

I’ll share some more of my story on the lead up to New Years day.

For now show some support to a charity close to my own heart and share this post and donate what you can.

Oh yeah and this year I’m not doing this along. No, no you guys are joining in as well.

We want to make this an event involving all those from our social media community who are brave enough to face the cold and want to make a difference to an issue killing to many in this country.

On new years day we will gather on the beach at high tide then after performing a warm up led by coach Lewis we will brave the wave.

Life was so inncent for that young teen ready to take the leap and pursue a life long dream of being the “Bossman”

Upon reflection I now understand that I had experienced a blessed life so far. Surrounded by the strongest of people, who I witness dedicate their very being to ensure there was nothing they could not provide for us.

Family, who made it clear they were walking with us feeling every single punch just as we did. Wanting so badly to step in front of those punches and absorb the damage but understanding that in the long run this would damage us more.

Instead they acted as coaches and mentors. The best cornermen anyone could ask for. Teaching us to stay calm under the pressure of those punches. Teaching us how to take one on the chin or nose, how to block a punch, how to roll a punch…how to counter a punch.

Refusing to pick us up when we fell but instead instilling the comfisdence and skill set to stand back up ourselves. Wipe the blood and dirt from our brow and laugh, saying you’ll need more than that to keep the this family down.

Teaching us that exactly the same as in a boxing ring, if you really want life to stop punching you in the face you must be brave, calm.

You must be willing to dig those boots into the ground and show no signs of retreat. Pull together all your strength, bite down and hit life back a whole lot harder that it ever dared to hit you.

Thank you to all my family and supporters for always standing by. Your love and support is unmatched.

Keep rolling with the punches and attack with everything you have in the tank.

“Lewis we love your videos” “what happens to the videos we love them”

Me too pal.

So what happened to the old ocean stores clips? Let me explain…

Nobody knows how to run a business at 19 years old and I was no exception. So when undertaking this journey I very quickly realised I had it all to learn.

So I turned my attention to books and YouTube and began obsessively cramming all the knowledge I could on marketing, sales and customer service.

I soon developed my own unique plan for how to grown my business with the main focus being on social media. Simply just posting all my ups and down and on this crazy journey of entrepreneurship.

This was working well and people started to respond. It just wasn’t quite where we wanted to be so we decided something new needs to be tried.

The world is moving towards video content I quickly realised.

We started videos and they went crazy 50k-100k views wasn’t usual then.

Customers started to flock. Our sales doubled, then tripled and so on. The papers started to catch wind and would write regular articles about me, people were recognising me in the street daily and everyone wanted to meet the friendly, eccentric salesman from the videos.

Why whole brand from day 1 has been built upon on back of authenticity and honesty. The truth became that, the person they were meeting was not the same person from the videos. No, the person from the videos became a character that I cultivated in the pursue of money.

A character I felt obliged to play at all times. A character I also started to get fooled by. A character that began to say and do things they didn’t necessary believe to try and grown the shop.

Eventually I became exhausted and sick of not being me.

It became clear it was time to take a step back from the shop and focus on me. To find out who I really am and what other interest I actually have.

Time to go away and really start being me again.

That is what I want to do with my social media in 2024. Take you all on the journey with me with daily updates and really show you who I am, while getting to know you more.

Suggest 2023 was the second one phase of my story beginning . 2024 is where we smash past previous highs.

No hate will be accepted next year or else 👊

I look forward to seeing you all there and being my self along the way.

Thank you again to everyone who supported our boxing journey. It was an amazing and tough experience and I couldn’t be prouder of both of us for putting it bodies-and nose- through that beating all for a worthwhile cause.

A unique bond, a form of brotherhood that only we now hold.

A show of strength to the world from both parts.

A commitment to no matter what challenge this life through towards us physical or not, we stand together as a unit. Not one behind the other and never across from each other, only side by side.

It was an honour to share the ring with you last night from and f*** me what a tough fight you gave me. Destroying my nose within the first 5 seconds of the fight is something I won’t forget in a while.

Regardless of what was thrown our way both of us stepped up with some serious heart and did exactly what we said we would do. Exactly the same advice I preach and try ever so hard to live my self.

Dig your boots into the ground. Do not retreat. And be willing to die for everything you love.
