Stronachie, one of the legendary names in the archive of vanished distilleries, lives on with this Highland Single Malt.

The A.D. Rattray create their Stronachie 10 Year Old with spirit from Benrinnes Distillery that is filled into bourbon casks and left to mature for a minimum of 10 years.

A small batch of around 20 matured casks are selected to be brought together and bottled at 43%, creating this perfectly balanced and seductive dram.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE Soft honey, earthy heather and malty sweetness.

PALATE Smooth with luscious honey and biscuits, then lingering pepper and cereal notes.

FINISH Perfectly balanced dram.

North Star Tullibardine - £48.50 💛🥃

This single malt from an unnamed Orkney Distillery was distilled in January 2007, and aged for 17 years, and finished for 3 years in a fresh Oloroso Hogshead before being bottled at natural cask strength of 57.9% ABV, without chill-filtration or artificial colouring.

Only 293 Bottles have been produced

TASTING NOTES:

NOSE: Toffee caramels and popcorn.

NEW Pintail Indiana Rye Whiskey 💛🥃

The new pintail releases are now available online including something a wee bit different

INDIANA RYE WHISKY meets OLOROSO SHERRY CASK maturation in this ‘first’ outing for Pintail into American Whiskey and what a result this has given us. From an undisclosed distillery, we do know that the mash-bill is more than 90% rye, aged for 5-and-a-half years in Virgin American Oak, before a further 14 months in two fresh Oloroso Sherry Octaves.

The whiskey spent most of the ageing process in the Indiana climate, enjoying hot summers and resulting in a relatively rapid maturation before its final period in Spanish oak. This has resulted, despite being among the younger whiskies bottled, in a whiskey that is extremely well developed and complex in character.

TASTING NOTES:

NOSE: Cooked apples, chocolate raisins, clove spice, mint leaf.

PALATE: Amaretto cherries, apple crumble, grapefruit, vanilla, toasted
oak, fresh herbs and black pepper.

FINISH: Creamy, sweet cinnamon, sugary mocha, Festive spices and a
hint of spearmint freshness.

The 2024 Release is a combination of five American virgin oak casks and four Oloroso hogsheads. The result is a multifaceted whisky with a powerful punch of peat, hitting a hefty 70 PPM

NOSE Smoked blood orange, cinnamon spice and manuka honey, with bursts of rich dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts

TASTE Worn leather, baking spices and cigar box, followed by honey, hazelnuts and dried red berries, with burnt orange peel and salted caramel

Thompson Bros Aultmore 14 Year Old 💛🥃

This single malt from Aultmore Distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland was distilled in 2008. The Thompson Bros have combined two Rye Barrel matured whisky casks with 1/3 of an Oloroso Octave cask. The spicy and nutty Rye barrels combined with the Oloroso deliver some beautiful sweet and savoury flavours . Carefully diluted to 48.5%ABV and bottled without chill filtration.

TASTING NOTES:

NOSE: Salted banana bread, green olives, pistachios, orange peel, sour pineapple, cinnamon powder and rapeseed.

PALATE: Haribo eggs, bright and fizzy, wood spice, Manzanilla, chilli peppers, Scottish summer.

FINISH: Spicy and mouth coating with medium length

NEW Thompson Bros 💛🥃

This North Highland blend of whisky from Glen Ord and Clynelish Distilleries has been aged for 8 years and bottled at 44.5%.

For this Blended Malt, the Thompson Bros have ethically sourced ingredients from two local producers who operate within a 39.8 mile radius of Dornoch Distillery. Both distilleries pride themselves on their handcrafted and artisanal methods of production. Moreover, they employ traditional crop rotation, use sustainable biofuels, and use less water than most other distilleries.

The team of skilled blenders at Thompson Bros have spliced these two distillates together while honouring the rich tradition of whisky making in the north Highlands.

Glen Ord 12/04/16 Refill Hhd - 36.1%

Clynelish 08/02/16 Refill Hhd - 12.3%

All smashed together in a refill sherry butt for a resting period of more than a day but less than a year.

TASTING NOTES:

NOSE: Peach, fresh plaster, chalk, lychee, marrow, margarine, golden syrup, beeswax, sourdough, pain au chocolate, crunchy nut, Tesco value peaches, PX grapes, fire at the Aardman studio, Xante, foam banana, and digestive biscuit with Philadelphia Cream Cheese.

PALATE: Peach oils, mouth coating with more tropical fruits, candle wax, pumpernickel, milk bottles, vanilla ice cream, cream soda, Viennese Whirls, kumquat, with a silky texture.

FINISH: Great length with lashings of extra value.

Made from the Bordeaux region’s rare white grape, Sauternes is a celebrated French dessert wine made sweet by the ‘noble rot’, which dehydrates the grapes and concentrates the sugars.

The specially selected hogshead casks have imparted luscious notes of ripe peach, caramel sauce and stem ginger on our honey-forward spirit.

Specially selected for the UK, this Wood Collection bottling is presented at 48% ABV, natural colour and non-chill filtered, allowing the unique character to shine through.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE Honeycomb, butterscotch and toffee sauce with crystalised ginger, mocha and peaches.

PALATE Tropical fruits, heather honey and baking spices, followed by demerara sugar, coconut and marmalade, with citrus notes, caramel and ice cream on the finish.

We are thrilled to have partnered with Little Brown Dog Spirits for our most recent Aberdeen Whisky Shop Exclusive. This single cask bottling from Macduff Distillery was distilled in 2010 and double cask finished, first in a Four Square rum cask, then in to a Jamaican Rum cask before bottling this year. Bottled at natural cask strength of 59.2% without chill filtration. Only 180 Bottles have been produced. NOSE: Highland Toffee sweetness, with pineapple and papaya tropical fruit flavours. With the addition of a few drops of water, it becomes softer on the nose. PALATE: Initial floral notes with hints of jasmine, sugared almonds and delicate sea salt. For the spice heads add a drop or two of water. FINISH: Lingering warm allspice. Included our obligatory high budget video.

Our Saturday Tasting was hosted by the incredible Chris McDiarmid from Berry Brothers & Rudd. A superb tasting showcasing some exceptional single casks from their portfolio. A very fun and informative evening that ended with an impromptu performance by members of the Cabrach Ceilidh band.
