Something special bottled the good folks up in Dornoch 🥃

Distilled at Ardmore Distillery, known for its Highland peaty malt. It was aged in two refill hogsheads for 25 years, limited to 463 bottles and bottled at 48.9%

Nose Sindhri mango, kumquat, farmyard, scented petrol, gris, fennel leaves, a gorse bush on fire.

Palate BBQ'd yellow fruits, creamy texture, lemongrass, akin to an early 90s frog, eucalyptus, a lovaly balance of phenols and sweetness.

Finish Dark chocolate with some biscoff, ashy and round at the very end.

We’re sampling the very limited Lochlea Overtone Stout Cask Finish in store today. Pop along and join us for a wee dram 🥃

Lochlea is a farm distillery in the Lowland region of Scotland.

When team at Lochlea distillery discovered Overtone - one of Glasgow's best selling craft breweries, were on the hunt for whisky casks to mature their first ever Double Mash Stout, Lochlea couldn't turn down the opportunity. Lochlea gifted the brewery with the cask make up of their core expression - Our Barley: three bourbon barrels, two STR barriques and one Oloroso Sherry butt.

The brewery matured their Double Mash Stout in these casks for 6 months, after which they were returned to Lochlea, where the production team filled each Stout seasoned cask with Lochlea core expression for one year. From these, Lochlea team selected three casks to be married together, resulting in their first ever 'Stout Cask Finish'.
Bottled at 52% ABV, at natural colour and no chill filtration.

Nose All butter shortbread, layers of tropical fruit and macademia nut

Palate Sweeter toffee notes and toasted barley

Finish Long and silky, with moreish fruit, cereal and sweet flavours

Limited to just 1500 bottles

The Glover is a unique fusion of single cask whiskies from Japan and Scotland, created in honour of Thomas Blake Glover (1838-1911). Born in Scotland, Glover lived most of his life in Japan, where he worked as a merchant and diplomat. Enterprising and trusted, Glover played a major role in Japan's industrialisation, and his legacy lives on to this day.

Batch 7 of The Glover is the oldest fusion between Chichibu and Ardnamurchan. Both distilled in 2014 these single malts have been bottled together at natural cask strength of 56.4% ABV, without chill filtration of artificial colouring.

Only 482 Bottles have been produced.

Recently, we had the enormous pleasure of meeting with Morrison Distillers at their new Aberargie Distillery; during that visit, we came across a parcel of Bowmore single malt, which was distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2019 after maturing for 22 years in a single hogshead.

After trying this incredible malt with light smoke and tropical fruit notes, we jumped at the chance to buy the remaining stock and relabel it for our store.

Nose Fresh green fruit, tinned peaches, pear drops, green tea, beeswax, kiln dried oak, soft and distant smoke.

Palate Opens with sea salt and tangy citrus, followed by warm earth grass, quince, oak and soft smoke.

Finish Light and lingering with gentle smoke and tangerine peel.

We are thrilled to have partnered with Little Brown Dog Spirits for our most recent Aberdeen Whisky Shop Exclusive. This single cask bottling from Macduff Distillery was distilled in 2010 and double cask finished, first in a Four Square rum cask, then in to a Jamaican Rum cask before bottling this year. Bottled at natural cask strength of 59.2% without chill filtration. Only 180 Bottles have been produced. NOSE: Highland Toffee sweetness, with pineapple and papaya tropical fruit flavours. With the addition of a few drops of water, it becomes softer on the nose. PALATE: Initial floral notes with hints of jasmine, sugared almonds and delicate sea salt. For the spice heads add a drop or two of water. FINISH: Lingering warm allspice. Included our obligatory high budget video.
