Let’s take a journey to the heart of France, to the region of Cognac, where one of the world’s most prestigious spirits is crafted. Because all though we are called World Wine Services, we also take great pride in providing you with the best quality of spirits.
Here are some fascinating facts about this luxurious elixir:

🌿 Origins: Cognac is a variety of brandy named after the town of Cognac in France. It must be produced in the Cognac region, using specific grapes like Ugni Blanc, F***e Blanche, and Colombard.

🍷 Distillation: The process begins with distilling white wine twice in copper pot stills, resulting in a clear spirit called “eau-de-vie” (water of life). The eau-de-vie is then aged in French oak barrels for a minimum of two years, but many fine cognacs age for much longer.

🗝️ Aging Categories:
- VS (Very Special): Aged at least 2 years.
- VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale): Aged at least 4 years.
- XO (Extra Old): Aged at least 10 years.
- Napoleon, Extra, and Hors d’âge: Even older and more prestigious.

🌟 Tasting Notes: Expect a symphony of flavors, from fruity and floral notes in younger cognacs to rich, complex layers of vanilla, spice, and dried fruits in older expressions. The aging process in oak barrels imparts these intricate flavors, making each sip a unique experience.

Our Instagram & Facebook feeds are full of spectacular photos of the recent fires lit in vineyards across France but why is this happening?

The fires are lit deliberately to prevent frost from settling on vines in a delicate stage of their annual cycle - frost can seriously damage grape vines leading to reduced grape growth & less grapes = less wine!

Why are the fires lit though and how else can canny vineyards tackle this problem?

A fun gimmick or a sign of future wine trends?
Will "Wines of the World" provide a marketing boost for the individual Countries taking part & would this benefit more emerging / niche wine producing countries in the future...?
I think the UK wine market would really benefit from this - maybe a "Commonwealth" Appellation... they could team up with New Zealand & produce "Cloudy Brexit" (seems appropriate) !
