The Torrevieja salt lagoon, known for its characteristic pink colour, has revealed an unexpected secret.
Due to the significant drop in the water level caused by the lack of rain in recent months, what appear to be fossilised dinosaur footprints have appeared on one of its banks.
Local experts have already visited the area to analyse the discovery, which, according to initial estimates, could correspond to a large herbivore that inhabited the region millions of years ago.
A curious theory suggests that the dinosaur may have fed on brine shrimp, small microorganisms that inhabit the lagoon and are responsible, together with certain bacteria, for its characteristic pink colour.
While the relevant studies are being carried out, the area where the footprints are found has been cordoned off for preservation.
This surprising discovery, which was made public on December 28, has sparked the interest of experts who are already speculating about what other surprises the bottom of the lagoon might hide.

Debido a la notable bajada del nivel de agua provocada por la escasez de lluvias en los últimos meses, han aparecido lo que parecen ser huellas fosilizadas de un dinosaurio en una de sus orillas.
Expertos locales ya han visitado la zona para analizar el hallazgo, que, según las primeras estimaciones, podría corresponder a un gran herbívoro que habitó la región hace millones de años.
Una teoría curiosa apunta a que el dinosaurio pudo haberse alimentado de la artemia salina, pequeños microorganismos que habitan en la laguna y que son responsables, junto a ciertas bacterias, de su característico color rosado.
Mientras se realizan los estudios pertinentes, la zona donde se encuentran las huellas ha sido acordonada para su preservación.
