We are honoured to be hosting another one of our ‘Bodega Parties’ this Friday. And what a winery it is! Rioja Alta has been producing some of the countries best wines since 1890 and this Friday we are going to be drinking their delicious wines in our basement for three hours straight! Stay tuned for the wine list but in the meantime just know that you can come and drink some of La Rioja’s best wines and at better prices than normal!

SPANISH WHISKY!
Despite being primarily known for our wines we also have a. Awesome range of boutique spirits, mostly whiskies.
We wanted to present one of our favourite projects, a Spanish whisky called NOMAD Outland Whisky, made by the geniuses at Gonzalez Byass.
It starts life as a blended malt in Scotland before being transported to Jerez in Andalucía whereupon it is finished in PX sherry casks. This adds a unique sundried grape sweetness to the aroma and palate.
Also, recently released, is their 10 year old version which also sees time in oloroso barrels.

A pesar de ser conocidos principalmente por nuestros vinos, también tenemos una impresionante gama de licores boutique, sobre todo whiskies.
Queríamos presentar uno de nuestros proyectos favoritos, un whisky español llamado NOMAD Outland Whisky, elaborado por los genios de González Byass.
Comienza como un blend de malta en Escocia antes de ser transportado a Jerez, en Andalucía, donde se termina en barricas de jerez PX. Esto añade una dulzura única de uva seca al aroma y al paladar.
Además, recientemente ha salido a la venta su versión de 10 años, que también pasa un tiempo en barricas de oloroso.

Wine Wednesday - Vermut Dos Deus
One of our new favourite vermouth producers, Dos Deus makes rich and complex vermouths up in the Priorat wine region in Catalonia.
Their new ‘Gods’ range is really cool. A red reserve style with Athena, Poseidon on the front of their juicy white vermouth and then Hades, the country’s, and maybe the world’s, first smoked vermouth.
Vermouth is a fortified wine, traditionally white wine, with spices, caramel and whatever else you like, and Dos Deus has some of this year’s coolest options.

Su nueva gama “Dioses” es realmente genial. Un estilo de reserva roja con Atenea, Poseidón en la etiqueta de su jugoso vermut blanco y luego Hades, el primer vermut ahumado del país, y quizás del mundo.

DO of the Week - La Mancha
Let’s kick things off with the largest regulated wine region on the planet. La Mancha. Famous for manchego cheese and Don Quixote!
Traditionally an area for bulk wine production La Mancha doesn’t exactly have the best reputation regarding high quality wines for drinking.
However the terroir, big open spaces with good altitude and lots of sunshine, can produce exceptional wines. Many Vinos de Pago are in La Mancha.
Here Tempranillo is king - locally called cencibel, and airen for the whites; traditionally distilled for brandy.
It might take some investigating but nowadays you can find amazing DO La Mancha wines!
Empecemos con la región vinícola regulada más extensa del planeta. La Mancha. Famosa por el queso manchego y el Quijote.
Tradicionalmente una zona de producción de vino a granel, La Mancha no tiene precisamente la mejor reputación en cuanto a vinos de alta calidad para beber.
Sin embargo, el terruño, grandes espacios abiertos con buena altitud y mucho sol, puede producir vinos excepcionales. Muchos Vinos de Pago están en La Mancha.
Aquí manda la tempranillo, llamado localmente cencibel, y airen para los blancos; tradicionalmente se destilaba para aguardiente.

Wine Wednesday - BIG NEWS
We are moving shop! Madrid & Darracott will be closing its doors on acalle Duque de Rivas and opening the new locale on Calle Conde de Romanones next week!
The plan? Same as usual but with a twist. We will still sell the wines you love and still carry out tastings, but perhaps with a reduced schedule. Why? Because now you can enjoy our ‘bar’.
The new shop will offer wines by the glass as well as tapas! What this means is that we can play around more with gastronomy and learning for those more casual wine lovers.
We start next week so stay tuned!
¡Nos mudamos de tienda! Madrid & Darracott cerrará sus puertas en la calle Duque de Rivas y abrirá su nuevo local en la calle Conde de Romanones la semana que viene.
¿El plan? El mismo de siempre pero con un giro. Seguiremos vendiendo los vinos que te gustan y seguiremos haciendo catas, pero quizás con un horario más reducido. ¿Por qué? Porque ahora podrá disfrutar de nuestro “bar”.
La nueva tienda ofrecerá vinos por copas y también tapas. Lo que esto significa es que podemos jugar más con la gastronomía y el aprendizaje para aquellos amantes del vino más casuales.
