15 March is a national holiday in Hungary, marking the start of the revolution in 1848 🇭🇺
Here are some facts we've collected for you 👀

🇭🇺On March 15th, Hungary commemorates its national day, which marks the 1848-49 revolution and war of independence. The movement was initiated by a group of young poets and writers, who were collectively known as Sándor Petőfi’s circle. 🇭🇺

Petőfi is considered one of the most renowned Hungarian poets, revolutionaries, and national heroes - however, it is not widely known, that he made a significant contribution to one of Hungary's most famous dishes, székelykáposzta.

The dish was named after Petőfi's friend, József Székely. Legend has it that Petőfi and Székely arrived at a bar in Budapest very late one evening, in search of food (and probably wine, too). However, the establishment was almost out of food, so they had to be inventive and mixed together various leftovers such as stew and cabbage.

Happy International Furmint Day! 🥳✨🥳
This crisp, complex and mineral white grape variety is one of the most promising in Hungarian winemaking. Typically grown in Tokaj and Somló, and coming in so many shapes and flavours💚
We love it dry and sweet and are super excited about the new vintage.

Today is St Vincent's Day, the patron saint of winemakers! 🍷🥂
On this day, we honour the ancient traditions and customs of viticulture and winemaking that have been passed down through generations 💚
Coexisting closely with nature and the land, these practices have always been of paramount importance to the ancient winemakers 🌱🍇
The tradition continues: "When Saint Vincent's day shines, the cellar is full and you can expect a lot of good wine. Vincent conquers winter like good wines conquer the cold."☀️

A few days ago at BorStore, we were talking about how Hárslevelű is such a (wrongly😒) neglected and underrated grape variety - its juicy fruitiness and waxy, smooth style is really lovable, yet it's often overshadowed by its famous neighbor, Furmint💚
So we decided to open one of the new Hárslevelűs in our selection, the Count Degenfeld Terézia Hárslevelű, to toast this grape variety. And once again, we weren't disappointed! 😍 Gróf Degenfeld Szőlőbirtok és Kastélyszálló / Wine Estate & Castle Hotel
