Salute to Fred's dedication!🥃🥃🥃

Our very own Fred Laing was distinguished with the role of Master of the Quaich this week, a rare and revered accreditation in the world of Scotch Whisky 🥃

Fred’s life of Scotch Whisky unofficially started at school, touring South America with his father, Fred (Snr) in the 1960s, continuing with apprenticeships at Whyte & Mackay and White Horse Distillers which allowed Fred to put considerable focus into learning the art of blending, something he later brought to Douglas Laing & Co working closely with his father on the blending and designs for their King of Scots Deluxe, 17 and 25 year old blends. Fred then brought to the table Douglas Laing’s first Single Cask series in 1999, culminating in our Old Particular brand. In 2009, Fred returned to the blender’s craft creating his favourite offspring: Big Peat, an all Islay Blended Malt. The rest of our “Remarkable Regional Malts” followed, allowing him to continue his evangelical travels to carry out tastings and Whisky shows around the world.
