Summer vibes are on their way and Ampeleia’s Rosato is here to quench your thirst! ☀️

Eric Guido, Editor at Vinous, describes this delightful wine like a spice box on the nose, full of incense, dried citrus peels, blood orange, cinnamon and baked apple. It's soft upon entry yet quickly delivers a zesty burst of sour berries and tropical melon, all guided by vibrant acidity. A liquid, floral staining of concentration lingers, yet the energy remains high as the Rosato di Ampeleia keeps the mouth watering for more. This is a totally captivating Rosato that's nearly impossible to put down. It's a blend of 80% Carignano and '20% Alicante Nero.

A pure and honest expression of the Priorat’s fruit, the wines of Terroir Historic - an astonishing mosaic of aroma and flavor - are meant to be enjoyed rather than contemplated. Manual harvest, whole cluster ferments, nothing added, nothing removed, these blends – one white and one red – authentically express the Priorat landscape’s diversity showcasing its complexities.

As the founder of the winery, Dominik Huber, puts it:
"The French have a very beautiful expression; they call it vin de soif. You drink Terroir Historic not with your mind but with your belly and emotions. With Terroir Historic, you are hungry and thirsty and want to socialize because, in the end, this is the fundamental thing about wine; you share it with your friends and family".

Dégorgement time at Fleury from Champagne! This small (or large) miracle from the Côte des Bars is currently completing an important step in the production of its wonderful Brut Nature "Fleur de L'Europe". Disgorging involves removing the yeast sediment after remuage (riddling). There are two different options available to the winemaker: Cold disgorging or warm disgorging. With anticipation building, we eagerly await the chance to savor this delightful bubbly!

MUNJEBEL ROSSO IGP BIO

Producer: Frank Cornelissen
Where: Sicily, Italy
Style: Red
Variety: Nerello Mascalese
Soils: Weathered volcanic soils

Driven by the belief that nature's intricate workings will forever hold mysteries beyond human comprehension, Frank Cornelissen crafts wines on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Founded in 2001, his winery embraces a philosophy of surrender to nature's complexity. While he might occasionally utilize organic or biodynamic methods in challenging years, Frank primarily allows the vines to thrive on their own terms. The resulting wines are an unfiltered expression of wild, untamed nature captured in each bottle.

In the month of May, the vineyard awakens to new life. But it's not just nature that is particularly active at this time, the winemakers are too as well. In conventional viticulture, the vines are sprayed against diseases in this month, but in biodynamic viticulture the focus is on natural preparations that strengthen the cycle of the vines and revitalise the soil. A distinction is made between compost preparations such as yarrow preparations or nettle preparations and spray preparations such as horn manure or horn silica. The biodynamic preparations are vitalising preparations for soil and plants and, as a kind of remedy for the soil, they also promote the growth and quality of the plants. The aim is to give back to nature what we take.

TEROLDEGO "MOREI" IGT BIO

Producer: Azienda Agricola Foradori
Where: Vigneti delle Dolomiti, Italy
Style: Red
Variety: Teroldego
Soil: Alluvial soil with many pebbles

Born from the heart of the Mezzolombardo, where the vines are rooted in gravelly alluvial soils, Morei is a wine of inimitable elegance. Carefully harvested by hand, the grapes come together in clay amphorae to form a harmonious whole. The amphora acts as a protective shield, allowing the grapes to orientate themselves solely through the character of the soil and the grape variety. The result is a wine that shines with a gentle lustre and beguiles the palate with heavenly harmony. A poem in liquid form that reflects the essence of the terroir in every drop.

Azienda Agricola Foradori: a symphony of wine, cheese and vegetables

In the heart of the Dolomites lies the Foradori winery, where the family lives and works in harmony with nature. Their philosophy is simple and poignant: to capture the essence of the landscape in unique products. And wine is just one part of it! Six Tyrolean grey cows provide the milk for the cheese, while 30 different vegetable plots grow fresh and aromatic ingredients for the kitchen. Foradori is more than just a winery, it is a place where people live in close contact with nature to create unique products of the highest quality.

The idyllic vineyards overlooking Lake Geneva are a heart project of Benjamin Dupas. Synthetic products are sought in vain here, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Biodiversity is specifically promoted and the soils are full of life and inhabited by many natural helpers. These include various mycorrhizal fungi, which act as a natural fertilizer with their nutrient cycle. They regulate and are largely responsible for the healthy exchange and content of nutrients in the soil, not only in the forest but also here with the vines. At the same time, the fungi in the soil protect against pollutants from outside. But Benjamin is not only involved in his own vineyard - he is also an active member of the Association Suisse Vin Nature and curator of the natural wine app Raisin, which lists and networks natural wine bars and producers worldwide for users. We are thrilled, not only by the wines, but also by all the commitment. Chapeau!

The Awakening of the Vines

The cold season slowly comes to an end, and the vines awaken from their winter slumber. The roots are the first to start working again. They absorb water and transport stored nutrients from the old wood to the extremities, preparing for bud break.

In March and April, one can observe the vine "bleeding" as a result of the pruning at the beginning of the year and the increasing warmth. This sap is also called "Rebenblut" (vine blood) and has a disinfecting effect, protecting the vine from further infections. It is a sign of the vine's healing process.
