The day cards are back! I love these little cards. Why? Well they are such a good deal, you can choose the day of travel and they are great for visitor who love to travel and save money! These ones are valid until 20th of December - which is much longer than usual. This time customers who also have a halb tax/half fare card can buy reduced connecting tickets for a journey outside the GA area of ​​validity. I’ll definitely be buying a couple for days out and visitors.

This weekend is the massive Turnip festival/parade/event - basically all things Turnip in Richterswil. This is what you need to know 1. Go by train. There are extra trains running. You have a very low chance of finding a parking space. 2. The parade starts at 11:00 - the streets lights turn off and a loud explosion signals the start of the parade. 3. There will be thousands of people - it’s crowded and you will be tightly packed together. Keep your little children close to you and if you are separated make sure you agree a place to meet or give them your phone number so they can contact you. 4. Dress up warm - to watch the parade go past you stand still for quite a while - envying the people with a view from a balcony- warm boots, coats and hats are must. 5. Don’t forget to buy the entry badge or Pin. They are 8chf for the entry badge or 15chf for a pin you can keep. These are sold at the train station and as you approach the parade. These pay for the turnips and all the work that goes into setting up Richterswil for the parade. Cash is the quickest. Have a fun time if you are going. I would love to see your pictures. Father Christmas 🎅 Swiss style. While in the Uk or America you might find him in a shopping center or a Christmas Market - not so in Switzerland. Here you can book Father Christmas to come visit you home. Or you might find him in the local forest hut. Or in this photo at Park en Greune Rüschlikon. Alternatively there is a Father Christmas parade along the Bahnhofstrasse in Zürich 27th November at 17:00. This year you can even call him on 0800 245 287

You know it’s officially Autumn when the Raclette accessories arrive in the Supermarket. Do you eat Raclette? In our house we do. But it needs to be cold outside and we stop when we reach 'peak cheese' 🧀 Or are you a fondu 🫕 fan instead?

This was the Indian food section of my local large supermarket back in 2012 - it’s the one that doesn’t sell alcohol. How Switzerland has changed since then! Much more choice and variety. What changes have you noticed since you arrived? Or differences from your home/passport/previous country? I still miss UK crumpets and also the style of poppadums that you get in the UK. But otherwise I have adapted 😂

I think it might be Autumn. Do you agree? Up on the Felsnegg today. A walk and a hot chocolate in the sunshine. I love the Felsnegg restaurant. Their Flammkuchen is very good. And the staff uniforms are very cute and traditional. Today I enjoyed a Schoggi Melange - which is hot chocolate with cream. Yummy

🐶 Happy International Dog Day! 🐕 Do you know if you own a dog in Switzerland you must pay a tax? Speak to your vet or Geminder Office for more information. The cost will be 100 chf to 200chf a year. Depending on size or weight. Your dog must also be registered in your Geminder/Commune. If you move with your dog to a new area in Switzerland that needs to be recorded too. Guide dogs and rescue dogs are often exempt. Find more information on ch.ch 🇨🇭
