Happy Friday Aficionados.
Sitting here in the cozy Macanudo Lounge in beautiful KL, starting the weekend with The Leaf Corojo Robusto by Oscar Valladares. We had the pleasure of visiting the team behind this wonderful stogie a few months ago during our visit to Danli, Honduras (see the Factory Visit post =)).
The Leaf series is an eye-catcher to start with. Each cigar is individually wrapped in a to***co leaf. Unwrapping this rustic look reveals the cigar. The carefully selected wrapper is a clear visual contrast to the leaf used to wrap the cigar. By the way, the band is made of paper from the to***co left over from production. Oscar ensures there is no waste in their production, fully appreciating the value of this raw material.
Lighting the cigar reveals the true pleasure for the senses. Medium to strong, it offers an intense aroma with distinct notes of pepper, toast, and oak, all wrapped in a creamy, smooth smoke. Perfect for a relaxing evening!

Zigarrenschweiz on the Road
During our visit in San Crostobal de las Casas, Mexico we came accross this lovely court year, serving great coffee and offering a nice selection of mexican ci**rs.
As we had some time choice fell on the salomones format by Chiquin Mash. This vitola offers a rich blend of to***co. The Filler are Criollo San Andrés and Lacandon to***co endemic to the Lacandon Jungle in Chiapas, Mexico.
The binder is Negro San Andrés and Habano 2000 pilot.
The wrapper is Habano 2000 pilot.
Each leaf is aged for 3 years and stored for a minimum of 8 months after rolling before being released for smoking.
With this blend, the team behind Chiquin Mash aim to showcase the organoleptic characteristics of the Mexican terroir. Expect earthy and woody notes with hints of citrus fruits like orange and mandarin peel, along with some peppery undertones on the retro-nasal.
It was rolled in San Andrés Tuxtla, Veracruz, Mexico.🌿🔥🇲🇽 Happy Smoking.

From Tegucigalpa, we traveled to the heartland of Honduran To***co, Danli. The center of cigar production in Honduras and the quasi-sister town of Esteli is a short drive across the border on the Nicaraguan side (more to come on that).⁣
We had the pleasure of visiting the Oscar Valladres factory where the famous Leaf by Oscar comes from. Established in 2012 by Oscar Valladares, Hector Valladares, and Bayron Duarte, the company might be a newer player on the block, but the founders are long-time veterans in the to***co business having gained their experience with some of the most renowned players in the industry.⁣
The carefully crafted ci**rs have made a name for themselves with a wide range of blends, each with its own unique flavor profile. The Oscar by Oscar Valladares line includes options like Habano, Maduro, and Connecticut, showcasing different combinations of Honduran and Nicaraguan to***cos.⁣

While in Tegucigalpa, Honduras we went to check out the Jerko Cigar Lounge. A great location for some nice ci**rs. We were warmly greeted by the owner, Jery Jalil, and a well stocked walk-in humidor. The selections for the evening were an Eiroa 20th Anniversary and a Flor de Selva Fino. ⁣

Memories from our visit to wonderful Antigua, Guatemala. We came across a lovely lounge just a few blocks from the main square. Antigua Ci**rs have their own lines and have been in the cigar business for over 20 years. The red banderol with a Nicaraguan blend, the green with a Honduran blend. ⁣
We took advantage of stocking up with them bringing along a nice mix of the two blends in their various formats.⁣
Here we are enjoying a Toro Corojo Format of the Honduran blend (Green Lable) overlooking the main square of cozy gracias lempira at the Café Arcilaca enjoying a nice coffee from the region. The to***co for this line originates in Danli where these ci**rs start their journey. The cigar is a medium-strength stogie. The wrapper is a Honduran-grown Corojo to***co from the Jamastran Vally. The rest is secret sauce. ⁣
