Meet Simon Dauré who heads up Château de Jau, a little treasure in the Roussillon region. Steeped in 12th century history, the winery was named after the land’s former abbey -‘Jau’.

More than just a winery, Château de Jau is a destination of serenity, culture, and inspiration. Simon & his family were pioneers in French wine tourism, being the first to establish an on-site restaurant (Le Grill) and a modern art gallery. This innovative spirit mirrors the reputation of the Roussillon region for creative winemaking.

As a small producer, Château de Jau excels in crafting both traditional and experimental wines, always ensuring top quality at affordable prices. There are rosés and then there is Arquitón. 100% Garnacha from Las Pedreras in Sierra de Gredos. It’s fine and elegant, like all of Barbara’s wines, and with delicate citrus flavours, white flowers & mineral notes. Organic, old vines, dry farmed and with a touch of oak. We are fortunate to have some bottles and we’ll be pouring Arquitón at our tasting on 23.05!

Our recent visit to AT ROCA in Penedès, Spain. Nothing but passion, energy and attention to detail from Agustí. We love all of their wines but we must give a special shoutout to FINCA ELS GORG 2013, having recently been recognised with various awards. Crafted from 80+ year old vines and matured gracefully over more than 8 years, this is a fabulous single vineyard, minimum intervention Cava. Congratulations AT ROCA! Top 100 wines in Spain (Hudin 2023), Best Sparkling (La Guia de Vins de Catalunya 2024)
