🍷 Cheyenne's October - Delta Wines Pinot Noir - $34.99 🇺🇸

🔹I chose the Delta Wines Pinot Noir this month because of the environmental initiatives ithis winery takes. Their mission statement is to protect the planet and work against climate change by partnering with organizations that help clean our oceans and reduce C02 emissions. Delta gives a portion of sales from each bottle and has been able to donate 40k to environmental causes within in its first two years.

🔸This delightful Pinot Noir has tasting notes of red cherry, cranberries, dried mushrooms, cedar, and rose petals. It can be enjoyed alone or accompanied by a meal. I paired it with an arugula salad and chicken parmigiana.

🔹If you are looking to enjoy some great wine and to help make a change, I highly recommend this wine!

📣 Happy ! 📣

🇪🇸 Every second Thursday in November is International Tempranillo Day! This grape is often seen as the most famous red grape in Spain. Over 80% of the vineyards that grow Tempranillo are located in Spain, thus it is often synonymous with the words "Spanish red".

🍷 It is an important part of the blend in Rioja, where oak/bottle aging are important factors in their wine labelling and hierarchies. Also, is found in Ribero del Duero where they make some of the most famous wines in Spain (and for some, the world!) with their powerful, full bodied, ageworthy styles, and also found in the Penedès, Navarra and Valdepeñas regions.

🍇 Tempranillo comes from the Spanish word, Temprano, which means early. This is because Tempranillo ripens earlier than most other black grapes in Spain. Speaking of names, did you know that Tempranillo has a plethora of various names? Some include Tinto Fino, Tinto del Pais, Cencibel, Ull de Llebre and in Portugal it is called Aragonez and Tinta Roriz!

🍒 Some tasting notes of Tempranillo are black and red cherry and plum, red currant, blackberry, and the aged versions may have notes of fig, leather, baking spice and often dill (yes, dill!).

😍 We will have a delicious Tempranillo on tasting bar tomorrow, come on by and give one a try!

🍷Rod's October - Rock of Wisdom Barossa Valley Mataro 🇦🇺

🔸Rock of Wisdom 2021 Barossa Valley Mataro wine is a 100% Mataro that came from a single vineyard in the Koonunga sub-region of Northern Barossa, Australia.

🔹The Mataro grape is the same as Mourvèdre from France and Monastrell from Spain. It was matured in French oak on lees (yeast cells) for 9 months and was unfiltered and unfined. The wine may look a little cloudy in the glass, but it is completely safe to drink and is actually a preferred wine style by many drinkers! 🍇
🔸This full-bodied wine fills your mouth with black cherry, black plum, a touch of earthiness, medium acidity, and soft tannins that leave a velvety feeling in the mouth. I really enjoyed the nice toasty vanilla and spice. 🍒

🔹I paired the wine with baked potato and roasted chicken. The taste of the wine becomes more intense and savoury. It is also good in all-meat pizza. 🍗🥔

📣 Happy International Merlot Day!

🍇 Merlot, the most planted grape in France for winemaking, offspring of Cabernet Franc, and a significant grape that makes red Bordeaux - what an important grape!

⛵️ With its heartland in Bordeaux, France, it has found its way around the world in many wine-growing regions. It is not hard to find it in the USA, Italy, Australia, Spain (plus so many others!).

🙌 You can find it in a blend, often with Cabernet Sauvignon, or as a single varietal flying solo. There are also solid examples of oaked and unoaked versions, depending on what suits your fancy!

❓Did you know that in France, it is thought to come from the word "merle", the French word for blackbird, likely referring to the grape's colour?

🍒 🍫Merlot's tasting notes range from red plum, black plum, red cherry, hints of baking spice or mocha (if oaked), and sometimes violet flower. Try it with a braised meat, or anything with a red wine since, or cured meat like chorizo or pancetta! 🍖🥓

🍷Krysta's September - Lieu Dit Winery Melon de Bourgogne - $42.99 🇺🇸

🔹Melon (or Melon de Bourgogne) is a white grape grown primarily in the Muscadet region of France (Loire Valley.) The grapes that go into this wine is 100% Melon de Bourgogne from the Bien Nacido Vineyard in Santa Maria Valley AVA, in Santa Barbara County in California. It’s farmed sustainably in Sorrento sandy loam soil, with whole grape clusters pressed and fermented with only native yeast. It is then aged in neutral barrels and stainless-steel tanks.

🔸The Lieu Dit is dry with bright acidity. It is crisp and refreshing with notes of grapefruit, lime pith, pear and light florals. This wine would pair well with oysters, shellfish, rich or lean fish, and vegetarian dishes. 11.7% abv

🍷Linnea's September - Schug Winery Carneros Pinot Noir $67.99 🇺🇸

🔹Schug Pinot Noir, grown and produced in Los Carneros, is a beautiful representation of the grape varietal and its potential. Its district of origin, Los Carneros, bridges both the Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley, Winds from the Petaluma Gap regularly gust through the region, keeping the grapes cool in the California heat, resulting in a slower ripening process and more retained acidity. ✨

🔸Schug Winery Carneros Pinot Noir itself is graceful, food friendly and has many different layers to it, and it would benefit from being decanted or left to open for a brief time before drinking it. The wine is pale ruby in colour. The nose displays notes of earthiness, raspberry and sour cherry, whereas on the palate the ripe red fruit comes though and is beautifully balanced with light tannins and ample acidity. 🍒

🔹Pair with any roasted poultry, Fontina cheese, or mushroom alfredo pasta! 🍗 🧀

🍷 Annu's September - Stags' Leap Petite Sirah $67.99 🇺🇸

🔸Stags' Leap winery is located in the heart of Stags Leap district of Napa Valley, California. The winery was established in 1893 continues making great wines! 🥇

🔹The 2019 Petite Sirah has loads of dark fruit like blueberries, blackberries and black cherries. I enjoyed the spice notes from ample oak aging, such as cinnamon and mocha. The wine is inky-deep, intense, and robust with velvety tannins and a generous lengthy finish and acidity. If you like bold wines with pronounced aromas and flavours, this wine is for you! 🍒🫐☕

🔸It paired perfect with braised baby back ribs with bourbon bbq sauce on grill. Best enjoyed slightly cooler than room temperature, approx. 18 degrees. 😋
