Can’t believe it’s already fireworks night on Monday! If you’re coming downtown to soak up the vibes and check out the show, we’ll be open at the shop from 12-9pm.

Please keep in mind that a lot of streets (including ours) will be closed to vehicle traffic and will be pedestrian only starting at 6pm that evening. Swipe to see the specific road closures 👉🏼

+ Transit Windsor will be FREE after 6pm and free shuttles will also be available from Devonshire Mall! You can find more info about this from the Transit Windsor social media pages.

✨Join Us On Tuesday June 10th✨We’re super excited to see you all for the book swap tomorrow night between 6:30-8:30pm!

🚨You do NOT have to drop books off in advance to participate, so if you’re just hearing about this now, it’s not too late to join us on Tuesday!🚨

Just please make sure to bring a donation for the Welcome Centre Shelter for Women and Families because they could really use our help as they gear up for a busy summer ahead. They’re currently in need of:

- Swimsuits (boys, girls, teenagers)
- Sunscreen
- Lotions
- Hats
- Summer clothing
- Toiletries
- Soaps
- Shampoos
- Women's pyjamas

A reminder that our social at Maiden Lane Wine & Cocktail Bar starts at 8:15pm, so come out to swap books, shop the store and then walk down the street to join us for a book-ish hangout over drinks.

What is a whiskeyjack?

Whiskeyjack is a nickname for the Canada Jay, which is a bird found in every territory and province within Canada. It’s also a friendly and smart bird who chooses not to migrate in the winter, and braves the Canadian cold better than most of us!

The name whiskeyjack came from the Indigenous for Wisakedjak, who was a known trickster in Anishinaabe legends. Known to be quite clever and friendly, the Canada Jay is the only bird with a name rooted in Indigenous culture, and for these reasons above this species was named by National Geographic as Canada's National Bird.
