La bigotta was a pious woman who lived next to our Barbera vineyard.

She was much more concerned with the rules and appearances of religion than the spirit behind it. We added the spirit.

A ruby red colour with purple tints. A rich, intense and persistent perfume, well-evolved, with sensations of liquorice, violet, plum and vanilla.

Fruit and spice emerge on the palate, with flavours ranging from roast coffee to stronger yet nicely balanced spices, vigorous and intense. Its rich expression is due to the spices that envelop the flavour of ripe plum, conveying a suave and potent touch. Ideal with roast meat, game and hard cheeses.

A must try for red wine lovers!

This clean and bright wine has a intense cherry red color and garnet sparkles.

Abundant and dense tear, still somewhat coloured.

Pairs wonderful with red meats, especially lamb. It also goes well with all types of stews, Iberian cold meats and strong, dry cheese. It also is an excellent match with fish, like salmon or sea bream.

A TRIP FROM HIGHLANDS TO MONFERRATO It was May of 2010 when a new project was created in Mombaruzzo. Two enterprises were brought together, the Berta family and Diageo Italy. The idea of "Oltre il Vallo" was born: a fine aged grappa aged in casks of single malt scotch whisky. This project is the merging of two cultures: the artisanal passion of the Berta family and the workmanship of the best Scottish tradition, represented by a global company such as Diageo, the worldwide leader of premium alcoholic beverages.

Aroma

At first there is an explosion of perfumes ranging from the notes of grape, raisins, dried fruit and almonds.

Taste

These sensations then give way to a slight hint of smoke, peat, and malt. Silky and enveloping, it lingers in the mouth and confirms soft olfactory sensations, an aromatic bouquet reminiscent of oranges, hazelnuts and, a finally hints of to***co and honey.
