1) 🍇On Wednesday August 7th from 4:30-6pm, Ian will be pouring a selection of wines from Emandare Winery in the Cowichan Valley: the first sub-GI on Vancouver Island!

“It all starts with the farm, we truly believe that wine is not made, wine is grown. Being blessed with this beautiful piece of land in the Cowichan Valley, it has become our responsibility to steward it to the best of our ability. For that, we look to the old world. They all farmed organically, not for marketing or because it was trendy, but simply because that was how they farmed. Not against nature, but with it. It is our goal through bio-diverse and sustainable farming practices like dry farming, composting, mulching and animal husbandry to breathe abundant life into our land. The beautiful byproduct of farming this way will be a healthy balanced vineyard...” - Emandare website
2)🏎️ Any “Top Gear” fans out there?? On August 9th from 4-6pm, Chris from Wodka Vines will be on hand to pour a selection of James Gins from “Captain Slow” himself: James May!

“Amazingly, (the gin) sold out within a few days, rather than the few years I’d anticipated. None of it made it to the pub. Our experiment, intended as a bit of fun and the subject of a short film, has since turned into a gin-fuelled monster. Like most things involving gin, it’s all got a bit out of hand.” -James May, 2023

1) GEORGIAN WINES!! 🇬🇪

Georgia is recognized by UNESCO as having the oldest unbroken winemaking history. Many fascinating practices originating in Georgia have gained a cult-like following in the global natural wine scene:
- skin-contact whites (aka ‘Amber’ or ‘Orange’ wines)
- ageing wine in buried clay vessels called Qvevri
- minimal intervention viticulture and winemaking techniques

Join us in store on Wednesday, July 31st from 4-6pm as we welcome Anna from Siradze Selections to pour wines from her portfolio. Come explore the traditions of Georgia!

NEXT WEEK’S TASTING:

Join us on Tuesday, July 23rd from 4:30-6:00pm as we welcome Co-Owner of 1 Mill Road, Katie Truscott, to pour from her newly released lineup of Naramata wines!

Katie, originally from the Okanagan, moved back in 2018 after a decade in South Africa. There, she found success as a freelance writer and storyteller in the South African wine world, publishing several wine-related articles. She also holds a Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust. In the summer of 2022, 1 Mill Road was purchased from David and Cynthia Enns, founders of Laughing Stock Winery, who had planted the property exclusively to Pinot Noir in 2012. The winery also sources Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from other sustainably farmed, unique vineyards from across the Okanagan Valley and beyond.

🍷UPCOMING TASTING:🍷

Join us on Friday, July 19th from 4:30-6pm as Rasoul pours a lineup from sister wineries: La Stella and Le Vieux Pin!

Winemaker Severine Pinte came to LaStella and Le Vieux Pin in 2010 with 14 harvests of international winemaking experience, along with 8 years of vineyard management. She is a graduate of the infamous ENSAM (Ecole National Superior Agronomic of Montpellier) where she acquired her Masters in viticulture and oenology, and her National Diploma of Oenology. Severine is an active member of British Columbia’s wine industry as a board member of the B.C. Wine Grape Council. She is a leading advocate of sustainable viticulture practices and was instrumental in launching the Sustainable Winegrowing B.C. certification program. In the Spring of 2023, Severine received the 140-year-old honour of being knighted to the “Order of Agricultural Merit” by the Consul General of France, and in March of this year, was the recipient of the Leadership Excellence Award presented by Winegrowers BC. Her wines are elegant, delicious and among the very best in the province.
