This Coteaux du Lyonnais, which is made from Gamay, has earned a huge following for its upfront peppery blue fruit and soft tannins.
The vines grow on decomposed granitic soils that lie south of Lyon, and it’s made by one of Côte-Rôtie’s most accomplished winemakers, Guillaume Clusel.
Highly perfumed, mineral-tinged red fruit preserve and lavender aromas pick up a spicy nuance with air. Vibrant raspberry, cherry, floral pastille and spice cake flavours show fine definition and minerally back-end cut. We are excited to announce that the Giffard West Cup is back! This year’s theme is: the ART OF BALANCE. We are working with Giffard on this competition in Canada and will be organising the Toronto event with them.
Two cities in Canada will be hosting the Giffard West Cup: Toronto on Monday, June 3rd and Vancouver on Monday, June 10th. One Canadian winner will then head to Angers, France to compete in the Global Finals with winners from 17 other countries!
For this cocktail competition, bartenders are challenged to create a cocktail that reflects what makes their life as balanced as their cocktail creation, a creative endeavour pursuing the perfect harmony of flavours, textures, and scents, with each element complementing the other without dominating it.
To enter this cocktail competition, please head over to the Giffard Canada website - link in profile. There you are asked to submit a recipe created with the Art of Balance theme and using one or a combination of the following Giffard Liqueur Products: Pamplemousse, Rhubarb, Violette, Passion Fruit, Lichi-Li, Abricot du Roussillon. 10 competitors will be chosen for the Toronto event by Giffard Canada and 12 competitors will be chosen for Vancouver’s.

You’ll find Château La Rabotine in the tiny commune of Sury-en-Vaux, just six kilometers northwest of Sancerre. Although his family has cultivated this land since the 1920s, Alban Roblin (who is the grandson of celebrated vigneron Georges Roblin, of the former Château de Maimbray) and his wife Marion have been at the helm of his family’s 12 hectare domaine since 2010. The vines are well over 40-years-old, with ten hectares planted to Sauvignon Blanc, while the other 2 hectares are planted to Pinot Noir. In 2021, Alban began the process of organic certification.
