Did you know construction is almost complete on the World's Largest Snow Maze?!

No real surprise, it's located on the prairies, just south of Winnipeg!

A Maze in Corn in St. Adolphe, Manitoba was also last year's Guiness World Record holder, and they're ramping up this year's maze to ensure they maintain that record.

This year's maze is 53% larger and features a huge 20-foot-tall snow cathedral in the middle with 20,000 lbs of carved ice!

Maze goers will want to bundle up, it takes approximately 45 minutes to navigate, but they have firepits throughout the maze and snow sculptures to enhance your experience.

Would you be willing to get lost in walls of snow?!

Let's talk New Year's resolutions!

Did you know resolutions can be traced back to ancient Babylon?!

During a 12 day festival honoring their God's, Babylonians pledged to repay debts and return borrowed items, an early form of self-improvement that set the stage for the resolution setting we know today.

Research shows the most common resolutions today involve improving health, like exercising more, eating better, or quitting smoking. Saving money and learning new skills are also high on the list.

Unfortunately, studies show that fewer than 10% of people successfully achieve their New Year's resolutions.

The advice is to set small, specific goals to increase your success rate. Consider turning to technology like a tracking app to help keep you accountable and your eye on the prize!

How do you feel about New Year's resolutions? Are you making them nay or yay?! Any you would like to share?!

***FUN FACT FRIDAY***

Have you heard of "wishfetti" in relation to Times Square on New Year's Eve?!

The wishfetti tradition started in 2015, when Times Square dropped thousands of wishes on the confetti that fluttered down on the crowd at midnight!

People were invited to write down their wishes for the new year and tack them to the Wish Wall in Times Square, which was then used as the confetti!

You can now even submit your wish on the Times Square website where they ask you to sumit anything from a personal goal to a dream for the future or to do something for the very first time. They'll write it down for you and add the wishes to the ton of confetti that floats down at midnight for all the world to see!

If you’re a social person, share it with Times Square using the hashtag .

What a cool way to be a part of the magic! What wish are you writing down for 2025?!

***FUN FACT FRIDAY***

Did you know the version of Santa we recognize and have come known to love here in North America was largely shaped by The Coca-Cola Company in 1931?!

That year, the soda company started placing ads in popular magazines, with the advertising agency executive wanting to show a wholesome Santa who was both realistic and symbolic. Coco-Cola commissioned illustrator Haddon Sundblom to develop ad campaign images showing Santa himself, not a man dressed as Santa.

Using Clement Clark Moore's 1822 poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas" description of Santa as inspiration, Sundblom created a warm, friendly, pleasantly plump human Santa.

From 1931 to 1964, Coca-Cola ads showed Santa delivering toys and playing with them, pausing to read a letter and enjoy a Coke, visiting with children, and raiding fridges at a number of homes!

Those original Sundblom oil paintings were adapted for magazine ads, store displays, billboards, posters, calendars, and even plush dolls! Many remain popular collectibles and prized pieces of art.

Oh, the power of advertising!

***FUN FACT FRIDAY***

Let's talk Christmas trees!

Are you team real tree or team artificial?!

Christmas trees were first seen in 16th Century Germany where, at Christmas time, people decorated fir trees with fruit and nuts and later on sweets, paper shapes, and candles.

Historians think the origins of this festive tradition may date back to the Romans and Ancient Egyptians, who used evergreen plants and garland as symbols of everlasting life!

At my house, we have an artificial tree, although growing up, I always had a real tree!

This is our tree filled with love - I would love to see yours!

SHOW US YOUR TREE!!!

🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄

And drop us a vote for a real tree or artificial!

Tell us you're from a small town without telling us you're from a small town...

"The Store" - where you find all the essentials and candy, of course!

Our market stop in New Sarepta today took me down memory lane. The village where I went to school had a store, the one (and only) real "stop." But I loved going there, and my kids now have an affection for that cozy one room shop that has a little bit of everything!

Who's been enjoying an advent calendar at home?! 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️

***FUN FACT FRIDAY***

Have you ever wondered how the tradition of opening a little door to reveal a Christmas shaped chocolate to count down the days to Christmas Eve started?!

The advent calendar tradition dates back to the mid-19th century when German Protestants made chalkmarks or lit candles to count the days leading up to Christmas.

Some state the tradition was originally started by the Swedish and Norwegians, and given the fact that many of them would be in darkness at this time of year, it is easy to understand why they would start the tradition.

The first known calendars in 1851 were handmade and wooden.

Gerhard Lang is behind adding small doors in the 1920's, and said to be the creator of the modern calendar, having mass-produced the cardboard calendars.

It wasn’t until the late 1950s that Advent Calendars included chocolate.

Now, though? You can get them with just about anything - Lego, makeup, Alcohol, beer, makeup, coffee, Hot Wheels, and SO much more!

What is in YOUR Advent Calendar this year?! 👇
