We had a great experience learning from, and brewing with local award winning mead maker and medieval reenactor ! His knowledge and passion of the medieval era bleed into his craft, and it was obvious that needed to celebrate his talent by brewing together. This resulted in the first braggot brewed at Counterpoint, and Christian’s first scaled up recipe.

The result is a honey forward, slightly citrusy, balanced and quaffable beverage with a dry finish.

A brewed with:
• Wildflower honey from Bee Quest Honey in Bright
• Buckwheat honey from Ackroyd’s Honey in Tara
• Hornindal Kveik yeast from

Crafting the future of beer with fonio! 🌍🍺

When commissioned us to brew with this incredible West African grain for a beer pairing dinner, we couldn’t resist. Fonio is more than a grain—it’s a sustainable, resilient crop with big flavor. Thanks to for the supply and from for the killer FAQ sheet on how to make the most of it.

The result? A beer with nutty notes, bold aromatics, and a creamy mouthfeel. The hardest part wasn’t brewing—it was sourcing the product in bulk! Here’s hoping for bigger bags soon because fonio’s definitely in our brewing future.

Bonus: the chickens we feed with our spent grain loved the new item option. 🐓
