We sometimes get our hands on wines that make us giddy with anticipation. These are such wines…
Emilio Pepe started his winery in 1964 after working alongside his father and grandfather from a young age. He works mainly with two indigenous varieties, Montepulciano D’Abruzzo and trebbiano. His wines have rightly garnered a strong cult following across the globe. His quiet passion has been passed onto his daughters and now his granddaughters, who now carry his legacy on. His wines are truly elegant and we are proud to share them with you.

We are so lucky to have 6 bottles on our shelf! This is the perfect special gift for the and in your life.

“This Cascahuin Cerro de Luz is a very special release from Cascahuin with only 2250 bottles world wide. The production methods used for this tequila are something special and are evident in the final product. Agaves cooked in 5 different earthen ovens are blended together before traditional tahona maceration. This is followed by open tank fermentation in wood with the agave fibres before double distillation also with the agave fibres present. The result is something magnificent. The tequila is rested for 5 months in glass before bottling.
A true family owned tequila which has been produced since 1904. Cascahuin is now led by the 4th generation of family members. Produced in the Tequila valley, only the highest quality agaves are selected which reflects in the authentic flavours in the bottle. Cascahuin only uses traditional and artisanal techniques throughout its production and is influenced by the skill of the master distiller to achieve that incredible flavour.”

“And now, our feature presentation:” the next Illustrated Tasting Notes is The Roagna 2016 Rosso Nebbiolo. These young (20-25 year old) vines are grown on complex soils in two of the estate’s vineyards: Pajé in Barbaresco and Pira in Castiglione Falletto. The vinification is classically low-intervention: fermented with indigenous yeasts in wooden vats, then a long sixty day maceration using an ancient submerged cap technique. Don’t you wish your local indie movie theatre was pouring this for a viewing of The Godfather?
