My Christmas thank you - yeah, this is LONG…

Dear Friends, (because that’s what you are)

I want to wish you the happiest Christmas! My Christmas adventure started 14 and a half weeks ago. They were 100 Hour weeks. Did I love every minute? Hell no. Did I love most? Yes indeed:) I painted over 7000 ornaments for you this year! And more than 1000 stupid signs:)

As the self professed “Retail Bartender” I hear all your stories that go with the ornaments…. So many of you touch me in ways you’ll never realize. I have lipodystrophy and kidney disease and I made an ornament for a kidney transplant patient! That was quite a conversation. Tears on both sides… especially because it was his Mama making it for him. I made countless “We’re Expecting”ornaments that will announce pregnancies on Christmas morning!! That’s today! I can only imagine the joy! Thank you.

Soo many memory ornaments. Lots of tears at my little table. Some so raw the customer could hardly speak. I feel your pain sharply, I created the first in memory of my sweet perfect mother. Her memory comforts me now. I pray the same peace for you….

There were lots of funny ornaments. Some of you have an awesome sense of humour!

But in the end- the most popular theme was always family or friends.

As many of you know I opened the pop up at Micmac mall for all the wrong reasons… ( mostly to protect my mental health) and it turned out to be the magic elexir I NEEDED to get my head and passion back on track. I AM Back on track. More passionate than ever ♥️

A few notable moments at my tiny painting table outside the shop-

When I passed an ornament to a smiley but unassuming man, he said to me- this is the 70 th!!!!

I was floored. Embarrassed a little too, yes I recognized him but after 70, I SHOULD know how he likes his steak!!! We had a wonderful chat, I let him know how thankful I was and he shared a pic of his tree…. And all I could see was PV ornaments!!! My heart is full. Thank you Joey. See pic below🎄

I honestly have 50 more stories like this. The one that brought me to tears was Rob…. I’ve been doing complicated ornaments for him forever. Watched his children grow up on my bulbs for decades. This year he told me it was a Blackwood/Pumpkin Village anniversary - Our 25th!!! He graciously asked me to celebrate that milestone on the special bulb he gives his wife every year. Sorry & Thank you Cathy!! 🥰

This feels a bit like the Romper Room magic mirror. I can’t say all the names but please know that I truly do SEE YOU ALL…. and because I wasn’t blessed with a family of my own, you’re it!!! I share your joys, your milestones, countless heartbreaks and magic moments on those little round glass orbs. They are both tangible and intangible at the same time.

How can I possibly thank you all? I can’t. Please know you are valued. You helped me build a life and a business that brings me joy and complete fulfillment.

I’d be remiss in gratitude if I did not point out I do not do this alone. Much love to Ruth, Jo, Shawn, Barry, Martin, Heather, Ann, Sophia, Yolanda and Chantelle…. (some volunteers and some voluntolds) lol

I might be the lead singer but I certainly suck on my own. We had more laughs and fun than should be allowed in any entrepreneurial adventure.

Speaking of adventures…. That’s how the RJM partnership was born. It all started at the “parking lot adventure” when someone tried to publicly denigrate my business and I turned it into a positive which turned into the “Mic Mac adventure”. (The biggest positive of all)

Every purchase, every smile, every tear and conversation has left an indelible mark on my heart.

In the face of all my challenges you’ve always stood by me 💕and for that I am profoundly thankful. Your loyalty fuels my passion, and it's a privilege to find, make and source the amazing things that bring joy to your lives.
I would be remiss to not give credit also to the fantastic vendors that keep you coming back for more. My “amazing” roster keeps growing.

They are some of the most creative and fabulous people - it shows in their work! Thank you for allowing me showcase their amazing talents.

As we enter a new year, please know that your presence is what makes Pumpkin Village more than just a shop—it's a gathering place for shared stories, laughter, and the celebration of life.

2024 was a hard year on my head …. The online bullying and other restrictions drove me to Micmac and it was exactly the right place at the right time. There’s no better medicine than success…. And success is the best revenge (This is a classic case of Bitch Please, I’m from Halifax) lol

2025 is going to be even better. I invested in some new technology that will allow me to grow even more!

May the coming year bring you health, joy, prosperity, and countless reasons to keep making awesome memories. Thank you for TRULY being the heartbeat of the shop and here's to many more shared moments in the days/years ahead. See you in the Spring at Fisherman’s Cove. ♥️♥️♥️
But we will remain open at Micmac for an indefinite period. Come see us!

Finally and I’ve said this before-

“Find a job that you love and you’ll never work another day in your life”….

I hope you follow YOUR passion. It isn’t easy, not always fun, can be scary but you’ll have a happy heart. A very happy heart….and in the end - isn’t that what it’s all about???

MICMAC MALL STILL OPEN with soooo many lovely things!

As we close our Fisherman’s Cove doors for the season, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support throughout the year. Your visits, kind words, and continued encouragement mean the world to me. Being a small business rooted in the HRM for more than three decades, we truly couldn’t do this without YOU!

While the main location is now closed until May or June, we’re still here to help make your holidays special! If you’re still finishing up your Christmas shopping, you can find us at MICMAC MALL—open Monday from 9:30 to 9 and Christmas Eve from 9:30 to 5 (weather permitting).

Thank you for letting me be part of your celebrations and memories year after year. Wishing you a magical holiday season filled with joy, love, and laughter. See you in the new year OR at MICMAC tomorrow ! Stay tuned for a fantastic announcement in the new year!

If you know me well, you know I’m emotional … and a crier…. Sometimes when I leave the shop very late at night I cry almost all the way home. It’s either because I’m missing my mother or overwhelmed by the kindnesses of strangers all day long…. And my days are long. Usually 9 am to 1 am…. It’s 2 am now as I write this. I stayed late to finish up an important order for a special lady’s grandchildren. I dawdled a bit, soaking up joy by roaming around the store in the dark with a few lights on …. The same way you enjoy the glow of a Christmas tree in a dimly lit room. I couldn’t be happier. Christmas and YOU, make me feel this way. Day after day after day . Thank you for coming to me at MicMac. You truly have no idea how much I appreciate you❤️❤️. Well I better get some sleep- I will be back at my little table outside the shop in 7 hours.

There’s not much more I enjoy than quiet time in the store after a busy day. Can’t thank my partners in crime Jo and Ruth for all that they do. This ride has been baptism by fire for them…. And a hugely successful ride it’s been. Our haphazard meeting and sharing the shed at has resulted in something truly magical and has opened up new opportunities for all of us! ❤️…so back to my happy place…. I’m painting special orders and customs to get caught up before the crush of next week. I dragged my little table inside so I can sit under the speakers and listen to Broadway tunes:). LIFE IS GOOD💖 I hope you’re enjoying your Sunday eve as much as I am. 🧙
