Our cask strength rum offers the unique experience of tasting our rum straight from the barrel. Non-chill filtered there is nothing added and nothing taken away. Born from glacier-fed water from the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rockies and a blend of Canadian processed fancy and blackstrap molasses, our rum is distilled in a custom made Canadian copper pot still then placed in the barrels to develop a robust flavour. Matured in freshly emptied bourbon barrels from Woodford Reserve and finished in Oloroso Sherry casks imported directly from Jerez, Spain, our Romero Sherry Cask Finish - Cask Strength Rum has the passion of Spain combined with the smooth richness of a carefully crafted Romero Rum.

On July 1st 1916, alcohol became illegal in Alberta. During prohibition, bootleggers ran rum and other spirits through the tight mountain passes of the Rocky Mountains. During this time one of Canada's most infamous rum running MURDERS also occurred. Our tour guide will recount this historic story during one of our unique distillery tours.

Western Canada’s Premier Craft Rum Producer

Alberta has a history of bold entrepreneurs who were willing to take risks to achieve their goals. One of the most notorious of these was Emilio Picariello, infamously known as 'Emperor Pic'. When Prohibition began, he saw an opportunity and quickly built a significant rum running operation.

Operating from his headquarters in the Blairmore Hotel in the Crowsnest Pass, Emperor Pic ran rum, whiskey and other spirits through the tight mountain passes of Alberta, British Columbia and the US Pacific Northwest.
