Kitchen Cook - Nova Scotia School Lunch Program Cook

Effective immediately
- 4 hours per day (8:00am-11:00am), Monday through Friday
- Off on Nova Scotia PA Days, Statutory holidays, all Nova Scotia School Board closures
- Laid off on March break, Christmas break and summer break
- Must drive and have access to a reliable vehicle for food delivery to Northport Consolidated Elementary - 7110 Highway 366, Northport NS B0L 1E0

Rate of Pay: $15.50 - $17.00

Qualifications and Abilities:

- Must have experience in food and menu preparation. Menus are pre-set via the Nova Scotia School Board.
- Must be able to follow directions and recipes as outlined by the Nova Scotia Public School menu guidelines
- Must be able to scale recipes based on the number for orders per day
- Must be organized, neat/tidy and have clean work habits.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced atmosphere.
- Must have the ability to work independently
- Must have knowledge of cooking techniques and ability to alter recipes as needed
- Must have a current Food Handling Certificate.

Responsibilities:

- Cooking, baking, and preparation of food.
- Keeping daily accounts and inventory control.
- Responsible for restocking ingredients, kitchen equipment maintenance and cleaning.
- Kitchen duties as required in coordination with the meal prep (stocking shelves, cleaning, dishes etc.)
- Once meals have been packaged, this individual will drop the meals off at the school for lunch.
