β›” Tasmania Police is warning people to be wary of a potential roof painting scam operating in the North West and North of the state.

The scammers operate nationally and have previously offered both businesses and residents driveway repairs, or roof painting services.

In some cases, they have completed the work despite the business or resident declining the offer, using intimidation tactics, and providing what appears to be a legitimate business card or invoice.

In previous reports, the scammers spoke with English or Irish accents and used high pressure sales tactics or in this case, illegitimately low prices for roof painting.

Police urge everyone to be wary of unsolicited approaches of this nature and to contact police immediately if they feel unsafe or threatened.

Anyone who has been scammed or has received a scam attempt can report the incident to scamwatch.gov.au

Information can also be provided to police by calling 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania via crimestopperstas.com.au - information can be provided anonymously.

Dear customers and friends, we are writing this to address a serious and ongoing problem that is affecting our business and our community. We have been experiencing frequent incidents of public urination on our building, which is not only unsanitary and disrespectful, but also illegal and punishable by law. We have tried to politely ask the offenders to stop, but we have been met with hostility and negative reviews. This is unacceptable and unfair to us and to our loyal customers who deserve a clean, safe and FAMILY friendly environment. We are asking for your support and understanding as we try to resolve this issue. Please do not engage in or condone this behavior, and please report any incidents to us or to the authorities. We appreciate your cooperation and your patronage. Thank you.

The substance is being transported from Kelcey Tier Road, and the convoy will travel along Melrose, Bellemy, Paloona, Wilmot, and Cradle Mountain roads before travelling on the Murchison Highway and exiting onto Waratah Road.

πŸš” There is no risk to the general public, however drivers are asked to avoid the route where possible, and obey the directions of police and Transport Authorities.
