Although the weather outside doesn’t really call for white but these wines are just too delicious not to be shared and tasted.
This week, I have selected for you three classics from amazing and well known producers.
Schloss Johannisberg Gelblack Riesling from Rheingau. The estate was founded by Benedictine monks more than 900 years ago and it is presumed to be the oldest Riesling estate in the world.
Domane Wachau Gruner Veltliner Smaraged 2015. This producer remains the largest in Wachau, working with 250 growers and cultivate approx 450 ha. Wachau Wines are categorised in a three-tier hierarchal system: Steinfeder, Federspiel and Smaraged (taking its name from the emerald lizard who basks on terraces).
Moreau- Naudet Chablis focusing on organic practices in the vineyard, fermented in the stainless steal. Lean style Chardonnay.

Shiraz is what brought Australian wines in the world of wine. Famous for heavily extracted, deep in colour full bodied and high in alcohol wines. Jim Barry McRae Wood 1999 vintage honours the vision of pioneer of the Clare Valley winemaker Jim Barry who bough a prime land from a gentleman neighbour, Duncan McRae Wood. Winemaker Peter Barry.

Birthday number 35 deserves a big celebration 🍾
Bodegas Vega Sicilia is considered the crown jewel of Spanish wines. Since its founding in 1864, the winery has brought international acclaim to Ribera del Duero, a region in northern Spain formerly overshadowed by the more famous Rioja. Many believe Vega Sicilia’s commitment to quality earned Ribera del Duero its rightful place as one of the world’s highest-quality wine regions.
Valbuena, is the purest expression of the Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) in Vega Sicilia. Tinto Fino is clearly the predominant wine in the assemblage of the varieties that make up this magnificent wine, Merlot is also added to this wine depending on the vintage.

With no doubts the best Australian sparkling wine 🍾
Apogee 2016 Vintage Brut.
For obvious reason cannot be called champagne but it’s far better than many champagne I have drunk.
The philosophy at Apogee is simple; produce single vineyard wines from the best small holdings of no more than 2Ha., using Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Gris that Andrew Pirie has personally selected to make the finest sparkling wines available from Tasmania.
The main production is a classically blended, traditional method.
Apogee has pale gold colour with a very fine stream of bubbles.

Wine Connoisseur Subscription 🍷 | January 2022
It gives me great a pleasure to curate this month’s Wine Connoisseur selection. It’s exciting to find a good vintage (like Crawford River ‘05) or the last available bottles (like Mont-Redon ‘06).
This selection is made up of those ‘must try’ wines - excellent for entertaining guests or sharing with someone who appreciates finer wines.
The curation is a great mix of Australian icons like Bannockburn S.R.H and the international oldest french appellation, Chateauneuf Du Pape
