⚠️⛈ Severe Weather Warning ⛈⚠️

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued an updated warning, advising that severe thunderstorms continue over inland parts of the south-east. Main risk is HEAVY RAINFALL which could lead to FLASH FLOODING.

DAMAGING WIND and LARGE HAIL also remain possible this afternoon.

💧Seqwater has issued the following update as of 5pm (11/1/25): Seqwater advises low flow flood releases from Wivenhoe Dam began around 4pm today due to continuing rainfall.

These releases, combined with river and creek flows downstream of the dam, are likely to cause water over the following bridges and crossings – Twin Bridges and Savages Crossing.

It is not expected that Burtons Bridge, Bells Crossing (Kholo Bridge), Mt Crosby Weir Bridge, Mt Crosby Vehicle Bridge or Geoff Fisher (Fernvale) Bridge will be affected at this time. Releases are not expected to affect Colleges Crossing, but this may change subject to further rainfall requiring increased releases or local downstream flows.

Please stay away from fast flowing or deep water near waterways downstream of the dams.

Seqwater advises flood releases from Wivenhoe and Somerset dams are possible in the next 48 hours due to forecast heavy rainfall.

Flood releases are when we make controlled, gated releases of water that is being stored over the drinking water supply level. These releases are strictly regulated and managed by senior flood engineers, helping to manage water levels and make room for further inflows.

The Flood Operations Centre is at Alert closely monitoring dam levels, rainfall and inflows into the dams on a 24/7 basis.

Several ungated dams are spilling excess water. Please stay away from any fast flowing or deep water near waterways downstream of the dams.
