Hello lovely people!
Best to come in earlier rather than later today to pick up your mail, as I may have to close early in order to get home before my bridge floods. At this rate I will be closing before 12, but that may change depending on this rain. Thank you for your understanding.
Stay dry!

EDIT: I should also say, don't be alarmed, my bridge is known to flood constantly. This does not mean we (rock valley, larnook, Wongavale) will have major flooding. But it is a great idea to watch the river Heights.

Good morning all. I am currently still flooded in and won't be getting out today by the looks of it.
My wonderful mother, Anna, will be opening the post office this morning for me 🥳.
Please be patient, Anna is still learning the ropes. Where possible please remember to bring your "you've got mail" card and let Anna know your name and if you have mail or a parcel to pick up, along with if you have a PO box or counter mail. All the help you can give her would be appreciated. I have also given anna permission to close up at any time, if it gets too much. Hopefully this won't cause to much inconvenience if it does occur.

Water over the road at 559 Cawongla road, near Chelmsford road. Keep an eye out on low lying roads, causeways and bridges. One minute there's no water, next there is. Drive safe everyone.

Just a heads up.. BOM's river Heights are waaaaay off. Says leycester creek at rock valley is 1.39m. Chelmsford bridge floods at 1.8-2m... it is flooded now, so definitely more like 3-4m at the moment. Drive safe, slow down at causeways and dips in the road, as their may be water over them.

This time of the year I am climbing over towers of parcels 😬 . It would be greatly appreciated if you could collect your parcels as soon as possible, to make room for the next lot. The Rock Valley Post Office & Store's phone is working again! 🥳🥳
Finally Telstra has fixed the problem, even though they have no idea why it happened.
Sorry for the frustration and inconvenience this has caused.

While I try to resolve the issue with the Post Office's phone being disconnected I have set up a mobile number.

We have some afternoon/evening opening times happening the week before Christmas.

The week between Christmas and New year's we will be reducing our hours.

Car accident near post office. Drive slowly please.

Update - All ok. The driver walked out with a few bumps and scratches, but is ok. Thank you all that assisted and to the drivers who slowed down to pass.

Nestled midway between Lismore, Casino and Kyogle, and just 20 minutes drive from each, Bungabbee Forest is a little known environmental gem of the northern rivers region.

Home to many threatened species, Bungabbee forms part of the Mackellar Wildlife Corridor, connecting to the World Heritage Border Ranges. It is an area of outstanding biodiversity value and home to many animals and special plant species… many of which are threatened such as the Greater Glider, Glossy Black Cockatoos, Powerful Owls, and the Critically Endangered Native Guava.

This locally produced children’s book, “If We Care We Can” tells a story about Bungabbee and how it was saved by a little Squirrel glider. But Bungabbee Forest is still under threat from logging (still listed as “planned”). As a community we need to stay vigilant to stand up and protect this forest… just like the humans in the story.

“If We Care We Can” is about to be released in print format this week… just in time for Christmas. All proceeds from the sale of the book are donated 50/50 to:

- North East Forest Alliance NEFA and
- Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital

Looks like the book exchange fridges holds more than books 😬.
A beautiful python that was hanging out on the verandah has decided to go into the back of the book exchange fridge.
It's a hot day, snakes are about. Keep an eye out.

Dear community.
Apologies if you have seen the red mail box open this afternoon and have been unable to post your letters.
I am having an issue with a few local green tree frogs who have loved making this their home. After relocating them to the back of the building and scrubbing it out I have left it open to air. It will have its final clean out tomorrow and be ready for your mail once again.
