We're releasing a couple more super limited wines this week! The Cirillo Estate Malbec 2023 & Mataro 2022, both have a total production of less than a pallet and have traditionally not been seen outside of cellar door (except for the squeaky wheel in WA getting it!). Lets start with Mataro - this bush vine vineyard was planted from cuttings from nine rogue Mataro vines found in the 1848 Grenache vineyard. This makes them likely the oldest in the world (yet not enough to be classed as a vineyard) - predating the Hewitson Old Garden vineyard by half a decade. Fruit from these old vines as well as the propagated bush vine vineyard get Marco's trademark winemaking - gentle extraction, basket pressed to old oak, slow maturation. It's one of those wines that truly speaks of both the terroir and the winemaker..... The Malbec is back for the first time since the 2019 vintage - now coming off Marco's own plantings. Its the boldest wine in the Cirillo stable, yet still showing restraint in comparison to the traditional extracted and tannic style. It's bright, super lifted, and crunchy. Blue and black fruits and spices with the palate showing freshness and drive.... We've negotiated 13 doz of each for WA (unless the wheel squeaks even louder) so they won't be around for long!

Possibly the most unique and rare offering in our folio is this horned beast from Swan Valley Wines, perfect for your Australia Day shenanigans. This is a tank, multi vintage solera wine dating back as far as 2013. Originally released as a varietal Semillon flor wine, the base wine has been fed with each release to keep the flor thriving - with more recent additions of Chenin (skin contact) and Trebbiano. Now with over a decade of care and development in the winery this wine is groundbreaking - its equal parts textural & sapid. Salty & nutty. Obvious comparisons can be made to a Fino Sherry, and I would match it as such - cheese, olives, or even some king fish crudo. Do yourself a favor and hunt down a bottle of this badboy - not only is it ridiculously refreshing and delicious, just quietly its also a bargain!

This months ‘Employee of the month’ goes to the one and only (ok ok we only have one employee). Dani flys our flag proudly,. We’re not trying to be the biggest, flashiest connect. We’re not going to buy you a fridge. But we’ll rep our wineries who are some of the realest in the game, and get them to you at a cracking price. We don’t want to be your main supplier, but we want to be your favorite! Let us brighten up your week with questionable banter and whitty quips. Merry Christmas to all our legendary clients!

Swan Valley Wines 'Warrine' Chenin Blanc getting some love from on the . "Swan Valley wines often present with charisma and at times an edginess, but drinkability follows through. This a bit more clean cut and distinctly varietal. This comes from Swanville vineyard that was planted around 1913. It sees time in ceramics and wood.

Lemon verbena, sea spray, light cashew notes and gingery spice elements. Succulent, almost crystalline texture with a pleasing haziness in tow. It is fragrant, just shy of medium weight, vivid in its acid profile and gloriously refreshing. It’s fun to drink and adds more credentials to the Swan Valley Chenin cohort" 92 Points

In a bit of uber exciting news that we've been wanting to bring you for almost three years - Hurley Vineyard's Pinots are back in WA!

I've had a long history with this brand - back in 2002 while manager of "the old Steves" winestore, we were the first retailer in Perth to bring these wines west. Later, when setting up in Cantina in 2012, Hurley was one of our first additions and at the time the only wholesaler of these wines (the rest selling at cellar door). I've long believed these to be Australia's finest Pinot's, and now two decades from those humble beginnings we're bringing it back baby!

As always these wines are extremely limited. We're releasing a small parcel of 2021 - both 2021 & 2022 are sold out at cellar door. Hence, these won't be around long.

For those unfamiliar with the wines, Kevin and Tricia are focused on exploring the unique qualities of their three distinct single vineyard plots, or climats, from their estate in Balnarring. Situated on a rise of volcanic red clay topped with stony red-brown clay loam, their work is clearly influenced by the wines and ethos Burgundy. However, their goal is not to replicate the flavors of the Cote d’Or but to showcase the individuality of these terroir-driven wines. Established in 1998 and 1999, the estate features 3.43 hectares of Pinot Noir divided among three well-defined climats: Lodestone, Hommage, and Garamond, each planted with differing Burgundian clones and terroir.

In Kevin’s words: “We have shared a love of wine, culture and the natural environment since first meeting in 1978. We visited vineyards and wine-making families and drank good wine wherever we could find it. Gradually our palates ‘went south’ to cooler climates where the best Australian Pinot Noir is grown and made. It was a natural step to do so ourselves. We had come to love and enjoy Pinot Noir most. The principle of terroir spoke to us personally and made some important connections in our lives. After much research and a long search for the right site, we chose the Mornington Peninsula, where the historic Hurley Farm virtually found us”
