Today is Farm Angels Flanno For A Farmer Day! Select IGA stores in Queensland have been wearing their flanno shirts in support of Aussie farmers.

The cause is very close to the hearts of Cornetts IGA Supermarkets as many of their stores are located in rural areas where they have witnessed how challenging times can impact local farming communities.

Thanks to the generous contributions from their shoppers, Cornetts IGA Supermarkets have raised over $150,000 for Farm Angels since 2018.

The team at IGA Merewether hosted a fundraiser today in support of the Sleapy’s Foundation, a charity that is incredibly close to the heart of their local community! Locals were able to help raise proceeds for the charity whilst enjoying Red Parrot Coffee, Community Co Mud Cake and Cadbury Chocolates. An amazing local initiative!

Hot Cross Buns for breakfast?! Yes please! 🙌 Transform your Easter Hot Cross Buns into an indulgent and easy French Toast for breakfast. Share this recipe with someone who should make this for you👇

Ingredients:
1x packet Community Co Traditional Easter Buns
2 eggs
100ml milk
2 tbsp caster sugar
½ tsp ground cinnamon
30g unsalted butter
300ml thickened cream, whipped
1 cup berries of choice
Honey, to serve

Method:
1. Slice Easter Buns in half horizontally.
2. Crack eggs into a bowl and whisk in the milk, sugar and cinnamon.
3. Heat a large nonstick frying pan over medium-high heat. Add butter and melt. Dip the Easter Buns into the egg mixture, ensuring all sides are soaked.
4. Transfer the Easter Buns to the frying pan and cook for 2 minutes on each side, or until golden.
5. Serve with the whipped thickened cream, berries and a drizzle of honey.

Meet the Balla family, proud owners of IGA Local Grocer Flinders Street and hear how they celebrate Ramadan // “While it may seem like an impossible task, not even drinking water throughout the day, Ramadan is the favourite month of the year for our family. It is the month in the lunar calendar when Muslims who are healthy enough fast from dawn until dusk from food and drink, with the purpose of renewing our relationship with God, by nurturing the whole self - mind, body, and soul. Like many faiths, giving charity is highly encouraged, especially in the month of Ramadan. It’s a special tradition to break fast (Iftar) together with family and friends. Once the sun sets, we pray together, and then enjoy the vibrant mix of foods (everyone brings a plate to share), including the traditional Albanian dishes of Lakror (cheese-filled pastries) and Fasule (a white bean soup) - Nona’s specialities! The children always love to make a dessert to share with everyone too! You can probably imagine that by the time we have reached dinner, and the first sip or bite is had, the gratitude for what we have on the table is very much felt and appreciated. As the month of Ramadan draws to a close, we celebrate Eid which marks the end of the month of fasting. We celebrate Eid at the family farm altogether with a beautiful brunch consisting of a large array of traditional and modern dishes and a selection of deserts such as Baklava and Sheqer pare (rich syrupy short bread). After our meal we then spend time exchanging gifts and visiting family and friends.'
