In 1608 an eyeglass maker named Hans Lippershey invented the telescope, a device that made distant objects appear larger. ⁣

The following year, Galileo constructed a new and improved version of the device and took it to the skies, using it to observe the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn.⁣

For early explorers, pirates and navigators, the telescope proved an essential navigational tool as they sailed the high seas and discovered the world as we know it today.⁣

Here at My Pirate Shop, we are honouring the rich tradition of the telescope, selling beautiful, high quality, artisan telescopes in tribute to this legacy. Rich in detail and character, come visit us at the Queen Victoria Market or visit our website to browse our collection.⁣

Since the 14th century, marine sand timers have been used as dependable measurement of time while at sea, as the motion of a ship doesn’t affect the hourglass. ⁣

Today, they’re still used by Australian Parliament for conducting daily business, as well as being widely used in kitchens across the world as egg timers.⁣

Artisan made and crafted by hand, if you’re looking for a gift, souvenir or a creative piece of home decor, check out our range of sandtimers!⁣
