In 1608 an eyeglass maker named Hans Lippershey invented the telescope, a device that made distant objects appear larger.
The following year, Galileo constructed a new and improved version of the device and took it to the skies, using it to observe the moons of Jupiter and the rings of Saturn.
For early explorers, pirates and navigators, the telescope proved an essential navigational tool as they sailed the high seas and discovered the world as we know it today.
Here at My Pirate Shop, we are honouring the rich tradition of the telescope, selling beautiful, high quality, artisan telescopes in tribute to this legacy. Rich in detail and character, come visit us at the Queen Victoria Market or visit our website to browse our collection.
