🎅💀 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟰: Day 15 🍒

Nice to see Philter back in Canvent! The Marrickville based operation has surprised us with a beer style that’s pretty peculiar, and we honestly could not be happier with!

This is a pretty unexpected beer from Philter, an obscure European style. Once again Canvent is giving the opportunity to Philter’s German head brewer to showcase some traditional styles from their motherland! (Anyone remember that Weizenbock from a few years ago? 😍). Anyway, it’s time to taste. Los gehts!

🍺 ‘The Cherry-Machine’ Cherry Lichtenhainer

Beautiful peach/salmon colour as it’s poured. Aromas of cherry candy cane and glazed christmas ham (while sitting around a bonfire) 😌. In flavour there’s ripe strawberry, charred lemons, and barbecued leeks and pork. A nice puckering acidity on this light brew, with just enough bitterness to make this a dry and refreshing drop. The lingering smokiness is pleasant and not harsh. A unique low ABV beer style that is just absolutely packed with flavour! They’ve absolutely nailed it. Cheers and bone-appetit!

Feeling bone dry? You’re in luck as it’s time for another Canvent beer!

Some of you might be unfamiliar with this brewery. Beereratne is the passion-project, one man operation of Ben Weereratne based in the Yarra Valley as a gypsy brewer! Ben, head brewer and founder, is not only a prolific brewmaster but also a great designer (and has become a really good mate of ours!). He’s here to dazzle us with 12 different designs for this one brew (lengths we’ve never seen in Canvent before!) and each includes a QR/link to different beery tarot card, so go check out what you got! We’re absolutely stoked with the creativity for this one! 🃏✨🤩

🍺 ‘Serendip’ Tropical Stout

Love seeing a Tropical Stout in Canvent! Not enough of this estery dark beer in the market, the ‘tropical’ has been taken even further with tropical hops in the mix. Notes of craft cola, fresh to***co leaves and roasted macadamias in nose, followed by coffee, Ferrero Rondnoir chocolate and roastiness. Finishes dry with a lingering bitterness. What a RIPper!

Guten Tag! It’s Friday the 13th! Killer day for a froth! 🔪💀

To get not only the weekend, but also this new box started, we are back in Victoria with our mates from Bonehead Brewing! This is the first time the 3031 brewery joins us for Canvent. They are absolutely stoked to be involved, and so are we!

With artwork inspired by the iconic videogame ‘Wolfenstein 3D’ (make sure to check all the little details in the can 👀), we have an amped up version of a classic beer style! So let’s crack this open and get psyched!

🍺 ‘Get Psyched!’ Imperial Mecha Pilsner

🥴 8.2% ABV

Notes of hay and breadcrust, with the hops bringing some grassy aromas and the yeast’s esters providing some blackcurrant pastilles notes. In flavour the breadcrust notes follow the nose alongside some cereal flavours like corn flakes or cheerios. Light honey and sultana sweetness dried out by an assertive bitterness. Finishes off dry with that bitterness lingering.

The 2024 Bris-vent calendar resumes with an entry from one of the darlings of the Aus craft brew scene. Celebrating an excellent year with new venues, amazing brews and multiple collaborations (although we still miss your Melbourne taproom here in VIC 😜), we welcome Range Brewing back to Canvent! Now let’s get cracking the last beer of this box!

Beer with Terpenes number two! Which really represents a trend in the Australian beer scene. Different from yesterday’s IPA, this beer represents the east coast style and with different terpenes 👃 So many quality IPAs in this year’s box!

🍺 ‘Nice Out’ IPA w/ Pineapple Express Terpenes

Such a delightful fruity character! Notes of underripe pineapple and canned peaches with a light herbal note in the background. The flavour is like a tropical punch with overripe pear and pineapple gummies. There’s a light hint of acidity and an overall creamy mouthfeel. Juicy and appropriately dank; Dale and Saul would surely approve 🍍🚂📽 What a great beer to finish the first box of Canvent! We’re halfway done friends!

Bone-soir and welcome to another Canvent reveal!

For this marvellous hump day we are staying in sunny Brisbane, and with a brewery that was recently resurrected into craft circles, as they’ve just returned to independent ownership (in fact back to the original owners 🙌). We are talking about Slipstream Brewing Co!

These legends haven’t been in Canvent since 2018, and they’re here to make a statement with a fantastic on-trend brew. Slipstream joins us with a Terpene beer, and in doing so, gives it the Royal treatment ✨

🍺 ‘The Royal Treatment’ WCIPA w/ King Louis XIII Terpenes

Wow! Those terpenes really shine and the combination with the hops is just wonderful. The dankness is plentiful, with fruity notes like honeydew and citrus (it also kind of smells like that weird cousin that goes out for a long walk just before xmas family dinner 🤔). In flavour, caramel notes are quickly followed by a minty dankness, with apricot and candied orange character. Those wacky tobaccy notes are carried throughout the sipping experience, with light sweetness that ends in an off-dry finish. Honestly, a crown jewel of a beer! Welcome back old friends!

Day number skele-TEN! We’ve hit double digits (or phalanges 🦴)

We’re staying in Australia’s East but headed about 900km north! Based in Northgate, QLD we welcome Aether to Canvent for the first time ever! Popular in Brisbane, we thought it be a great addition to Canvent and they did not disappoint.

Thess Brisbane brewers are really getting behind the obscure theme we have for this year’s Canvent and we’re once again delighted to see a traditional beer style! This one has a classic, yet unconventional technique used, its delicate yet complex ✨

🍺 Oaked Dunkel

🥴 4.5% ABV

The nose holds subtle notes of toast and dark caramel, with an underlying nutty character that pops up. In flavour the character resembles milk chocolate, hazelnuts and golden syrup. The oak starts coming out as it warms up with light umami and notes of kopiko candy. An assertive drying bitterness gives a clean finish. Refreshing, easy drinking yet complex; remarkable beer Aether! 👏

Another Monday…. But how good are Mondays when you know that you’ll have a new Canvent beer waiting for you at the end of the day?! 😍 For today, we have a perfect refreshing beer with plenty of flavour from some pretty amazing brewers. Welcome for the second time to Canvent, Reckless Brewing!

Fair to say that we’ve seen a lot of Reckless beers in our shelves this year, these brewers keep on winning accolades in multiple competitions around the country and keep getting more and more praise! This “Bintang & Bali inspired” beer, just like the brewers, doesn’t take itself very seriously… which is what we love! We really hope that the brewers were wearing Bintang singlets while brewing it 😂

Brewed for absolute refreshment, this beer nails the brief! Aromas of fresh cut lime, mild salsa and lime jubes. The flavour takes us to tropical lands with spicy margarita vibes, and some savoury notes, with light capsicum and very mild heat at the back of the throat. Just a really easy but flavour packed beer! Perhaps the most “out of the box” beer we’ve had so far!

🧃 Boost Tricks 📝

This beer features a blend of two of their absolute favourite hoppy beers from the year in Boost Joose (Yakima Chief collab) and Tricks & Tips (ultra juicy Kiwi hopped DIPA). Both of these beers hit the spot so much with everyone, that they knew they would come together for an ultimately joosey DIPA. Using the base from Tricks & Tips, utilising all the insane, new hop products from Boost Joose, and a sprinkling of kiwi bliss from T&T.

🌯 Burrito Hour 🌅

The beer features a blend of two insane collabs, both with their homies from Bracket in Sydney. Range thought there could be nothing better than to smash them both together and see what happens. What happened is a downright explosion of hops! This triple dry-hopped Triple IPA features all the hops they originally used in Hop Burrito, dropped into the base recipe and hopping technique from After Hours. That translates into a mammoth hop lineup.

💜 Tastes Like Jam 🫐

For this beer they have blended together two of their all-time favourite sours, JAM: Blueberry Blackcurrant (also known to us as OG JAM) and Tastes Like Purple. They've taken the Blueberry and Blackcurrant from JAM and added them in with a whole bunch of Grapes along with the brewing process of Tastes Like Purple.

🥁 Kick It Ahead 🔜

This beer features the brewing process and hopping techniques of "What Lies Ahead" (Future Collab) with the hop bill and water profile of "Can I Kick It?" (Kicks Collab). The beer features an insane hop combo of Citra Incognito, Nectar, Chinook, Galaxy, Simcoe and Nelson Sauvin Amplifire.

A brewery that requires no introduction. Most likely the most popular independent brewery in the whole country… Yes, we are talking about the Katoomba kings Mountain Culture.

They’re joining us once in Canvent once again, even though they are now our fierce competition and have their own beer advent calendar 😁. And they’re here to REALLY shake things up and go to uncharted territories with a…. Double NEIPA 😶.

LOL, in all seriousness, we absolutely love working with these legends, we’ve even been selling their Christmas Countdown Box on our website (now sold out) and we could not be happier with this banging IPA packed with flavour (and Mosaic Hyperboost)! Welcome back dear friends!

What a treat for this Sunday! Usually a day of rest, but our tastebuds will have to get straight back on the horse; destination, flavour town 😜 Big fruity tropical nose with lashes of mandarin, cantaloupe and papaya. The flavour is just pure absolute fruit ripeness bliss 😍 Bursting with Stonefruit, Tropical juice and Mango Daiquiri. A bit syrupy but juicy, with a drying finish. Creamy AF. Once again nailed it friends! We really are the lucky ones 🍀

This Saturday is no lucky 7, as Cornella is taking us straight to the depths of hell 🔥🔥🔥

Making their Canvent debut, Cornella Brewery is here to shake things up with a traditional European style. We’ve seen great things from this local brewery the last couple of years, they’ve really earned their stripes and have been brewing some banging IPAs, English ales and Stouts. We’ve loved the evolution of this - in our opinion - underrated brewery, as they’ve been gracing the Carwyn fridges with increasing regularity. Time to crack this open!

🍺 ‘Devil In A Midnight Mass’ Belgian Golden Ale

Wow, BIG BEER ALERT. Boozy pomme-like notes in nose, with light fresh quince character. A bit wine-like, particularly Riesling, with a supportive bready character from the malts. In flavour we have the same bready character with an array of different flavours that keep on popping as the beer warms up: banana, watermelon rind, prickly pear, and honey, with a hint of preserved lemon. It’s warming, lightly puckering and bitter. Delightfully devilish, Cornella 😏
