Three years ago a band of four young, wine-loving amici embarked on the journey of reimagining the wine of their home region of Castelli Romani, a short Fiat ride southeast of Rome.

Only three harvests in and the energy continues to rise; the wines increasingly detailed and precise.

From 1-10pm this Sunday 23 June our dear friends .prahran are hosting the launch of the 2022 vintage—five cuvées, two of which—Friccica and Anforgettable—are brand-new to the family.

Adjacent to Château Rayas’ coveted Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard is a plot of 80-100-year-old Grenache and Syrah vines organically-farmed by the Charrier family.

Predominantly Grenache with a soupçon of Syrah, this humble Côtes-du-Rhône is medium in build, elegant in structure and deeply concentrated courtesy of those wonderful old vines deeply rooted in sand.

They make unfussed, honest wine from well-farmed plots around the region and have cultivated meaningful, intergenerational relationships with their farmers.

We have been very lucky to receive some of Frédéric Cossard’s sensational vins. Working organically from the start Fred has paved the way, ensuring the most pure quality is produced. Whites are pressed directly, while reds infuse as whole bunches before being pressed off for élevage. These rare bottles are on the site now!!

Alessandro Salvano is the 28-year-old redefining chardonnay, dolcetto and nebbiolo in Piedmont.

A few hundred metres east of famed Serralunga d'Alba—and therefore just outside the Barolo zone—is where Alessandro organically farms his vineyards.

Freshness, vivacity and exuberant energy define the wines and, being only the third vintage, the future is incredibly bright here!

We are immensely excited to share with you the wines of La Mesma from Gavi, Piedmont.

This rising star is owned and operated by the Rosina sisters, Paola, Francesca and Anna.

What started simply as a desire for a country house on the hillside hamlet of Tassarolo has, over the last two decades, turned into one of Gavi’s most exciting addresses.

It bespeaks, with such succinct detail and clarity, the dirt from which it grew, that you are transported to the vineyard with each sip.

Walter Massa is widely regarded as the saviour of the timorasso grape.

For the last four decades, Walter has made it his mission to restore this wonderful grape’s reputation, especially whilst its vines were regrafted to cortese as it became the more fashionable grape for Gavi production.

We’re grateful he did as timorasso produces a unique and complex wine. Its racy acidity is tempered with age, yet even at four years old, this still zips around the mouth like a Djokovic backhand.

A story of fresh and dried citrus, blooming white flowers and minerality. Decant or pour into a big glass and give it time and air.
