This holiday season is going to be special ✨.

The store is bursting at the seams with new wines from home and abroad. In addition to the beauties pictured, the new release ‘Vin de Sofa’ from Gentle Folk has just landed. Crunchy, bright and fresh, perfect for sharing with a light chill just below room temp.

It’s also worth your while to check out the new cuvées in store from the great folk of Alkina in the Barossa Valley, some very classy Shiraz, Grenache and Grenache Rosé in a style to suit modern palates.

Marcel Jubert ‘Beaujolais Villages’ is a fun and juicy Gamay with confectionary raspberry and bright acid, a real treat for your senses. There’s also a brand new drop of the always delicious Patrice Colin ‘Rouge’, a silky blend of Pineau d’Aunis, Pinot Noir and Gamay. If you haven’t yet tried Pineau d’Aunis please ask me about it!

Loads of new wines from Loire Valley, Savoie and Jura with their own sections in the fridge - because they deserve it!

Can’t talk about wine in December without mentioning Riesling! Ulli Stein is a wizard of winemaking, but most importantly to him it’s all about the magic of his Mosel vineyards. He is a passionate advocate for the traditional slate, steep AF vineyards that are no easy feat to manage. It’s all about manual labour. But the rewards are well worth it.

Ulli’s Alfer Hölle ‘1900’ Kabinett Trocken Riesling is from ungrafted vines that are 123 years old! Thus the name ‘1900’ for the year they were planted.

2022 ‘The Incline’ Syrah

The new vintage of ‘The Incline’ could not have arrived at a better time! If you need some joy, a little lift in your life, this is it. A Syrah on the lighter side (perfect for right now), it is elegantly structured without excessive weight or tannin. It’s satiating freshness and mouth-watering acidity carrying the abundance of fruit and minerality with grace and ease.

🌳 Some notes from Dane:

This cuvee is 100% Syrah with 50% of the fruit for the composition grown by the Chalmers family on the Mt Camel Ranges, in Northern Heathcote.

The other 50% was sourced from an organically farmed vineyard on the banks of the Goulburn River under the overlooking Mt Torbreck. The vines here are 45 years old and the vineyard produces extremely good quality fruit. The fruit was handpicked by us at a perfect natural acidity.

The Cambrian soils of the Heathcote vineyard are volcanic in nature and are made up of decomposed Ironstone, Dolerite, Jasper and Green Basalt. While the Second site is also predominantly volcanic it is mostly alluvial in nature being on the banks of a river.

Through meeting Charlie we came to appreciate his deep love of the Adelaide Hills and the nuances that can be found from vineyard to vineyard.

His 2022 single vineyard releases are astounding examples of the Adelaide Hills. The wines themselves are expressive, honest and complex.

We fell in love with Charlie’s wines at first sip and we’re sure you will too.

DC Shaw 'Gumeracha' Shiraz

The Shiraz grapes were sourced from the Northern part of the Adelaide Hills allowing for a little ripeness to show through in this wine. Black plum, blackberry and an incredible aromatic lift, well integrated tannins with subtle spices.

DC Shaw 'Piccadilly Valley' Chardonnay

An incredible Chardonnay from an iconic region of the Adelaide Hills. Lemon citrus, ripe stone fruit and struck match all kept tight with bright acidity.

Can’t recommend them enough!

CLOTILDE DAVENNE

Clotilde Davenne is a Chablis powerhouse with this latest vintage true to form in stunning precision.

Clotilde farms a mosaic of beautiful vineyards organically, without the use of chemicals and harvesting is done almost exclusively by hand.

Davenne's 40 year old AC Chablis vines are located in the village of Courgis, south of Chablis, the steep slopes of oyster shell speckled soil providing shelter from the wind.

In the cellar, stainless steel vinification is favoured over oak barrels, focusing on purity and terroir expression, with malolactic fermentation used for added complexity.

NEW RELEASE 2022:

🍒 2022 Gippsland Pinot Noir

The wine has a pale but bright colour and has aromas of raspberry, cherry and earth. The palate is spicy and fine with more red fruits, dried herbs and subtle oak.

🌳 2022 Bull Swamp Pinot Noir

This dry grown vineyard was planted in 1981 on old, red volcanic soils at 150m elevation. There are four separate parcels of Pinot Noir, two north facing blocks of MV6 and another of Abel, as well as a more sheltered south facing block of MV6. The wine has a deep ruby red colour. The nose shows concentrated blackberry, blackcurrant and poached plum fruit aromas as well as rosemary, rosehip and shiitake mushroom. The palate is tight and savoury with rusted iron, wood spice and pomegranate molasses.

🏕️ 2022 Camp Hill Pinot Noir

This site was planted in 1998 at 250m elevation and is considered the highest point between the Strzelecki and Great Dividing Ranges. The vineyard faces north with almost 360 degree views of Baw Baw Shire. Most of the vines are MV6 with a couple of rows of 115. It is dry grown and certified organic in conversion. The red volcanic soils have a little more rock than the Bull Swamp site and the wine is finer and more delicate as a result. This wine shows aromas of raspberry and redcurrant with rose petals, wattle flower and confited rhubarb. The palate is concentrated but fine with flavours of red fruits, bitter almond, bone broth and ironstone.
