From Australia to France and back to us, this rum is a true traveller! Distilled in 2014 in sunny Queensland, it spent five years aging in ex-bourbon barrels before heading to France for a final rest in an ex-cognac foudre.

"King of the Countryside" is no understatement for Rey Campero (which is what the phrase means), consistently producing top quality artisanal Mezcals beautifully and quintessentially Oaxacan.
Artisanal Mezcal is a collaborative effort, being a cherished family tradition passed down through generations and having every family member play an important role. This mindset is epitomised by Casa Sanchez, nestled in the small town of Candelaria Yegole located in the Tlacolula Valley, four generations of mezcal master showcase their craftmanship and traditions in each bottling, producing unique mezcals utilising all hand harvested wild agave located all around Oaxaca.
Casa Sanchez's love for their culture allows them to give back to the community and the ground the reside, providing jobs for foragers of agave and establishing a nursery to grow a variety of different agave, some nearing extinction, in order to replenish the land and utilise these robust and unique agave's sustainably.
Usually I'd do a cheeky finisher to remind you to come into the shop and try out these mezcals for yourself or buy a bottle, but seriously, these products are amazing. If you've never had mezcal or don't really like mezcal these are bottles you should try, they'll definitely change your mind. The distillery is fully family run and small, 100% artisanal and sustainable while producing some of the most nuanced and delicious mezcals on the market, the Espadin is $125, for such good quality at 48.4% that's an insanely good deal. Definitely come in and try the range and buy a bottle, you won't regret it.

With the weather turning up, it's time to get yourself nice and refreshed. Highballs may seem like fancy work for a whisky soda but they are so much more! Using high quality ingredients and the right amount of mixers results in an insanely refreshing and delicious drink. From Ichiro's Malt & Grain highballs with soda and lemon, a mezcal paloma using Herencia de Sanchez Espadin mezcal with FeverTree grapefruit soda and Mulassano Vermouth Bianco with a splash of soda and my secret ingredient, a barspoon of olive brine, all these drinks will keep you nice and refreshed on a beautiful day.

Tasting notes 🤌
Nose: Bold and rich, with star anise, charred wood, and a warming hint of spiced caramel. As it opens, floral notes of iris and lily emerge, alongside malted barley and wood polish.
Palate: Elegant and lively. Crisp white fruits like pear and Mirabelle plum lead, followed by smooth tannins and a return to malty flavours.
Overall: Long and velvety, with cocoa, spiced bread, and mocha. A malty finish lingers with hints of lemon myrtle, rounded off by a subtle black pepper warmth and bright citrus.
For the last decade, Australian craft spirits, especially whisky, have continued to gain notoriety and popularity. While we in Australia are very familiar with the amazing spirits produced here, overseas recognition is growing larger and larger, with many distilleries winning a multitude of awards each year—not bad for a young whisky industry!
One of the distilleries leading the way in Australian craft spirits is Archie Rose. Although they gained notoriety with their unique gins, Archie Rose has quickly risen to become one of Australia’s most renowned whisky distilleries. Utilizing a range of different grains and producing both rye and single malts, Archie Rose’s commitment to quality and innovation means their whiskies are not to be missed.
We have a great relationship with Archie Rose and love their products, so much so that we teamed up with them to release a single malt for Whisky Abbey 2023. Rich in mouthfeel with a chocolatey, tropical, and spicy palate, this single malt was aged in a 100L ex-apera cask and handpicked by us, showcasing the beauty of Archie Rose whisky.

Teeling is a distillery that's only growing in popularity since their opening in 2015. As part of the new wave of Irish distilleries, Teeling combines classic Irish whiskey traditions with innovative techniques.
The Teeling family’s whiskey journey date back to 1782 where a small craft distillery was established in the industrial heart of Dublin opened by Walter Teeling. This tradition continued with John Teeling's launch of Cooley Distillery and the reopening Kilbeggan Distillery after a 50 year hiatus. Now, the legacy of the Teeling family continues at Teeling Distillery which was the first distillery opened in Dublin in 125 years opened by the sons of John Teeling, Jack and Stephen.
Though relatively new, Jack and Stephens heritage shines through in their whiskeys, producing a soft yet rich dram filled with notes of butter biscuits and fruit. We have a fantastic range of Teeling products in store, as well as some secret Irish goodness only by the dram.
