Every Oktober we take you to Helles & Back to unleash our Bavarian side, and this year is no different! From tomorrow our bar becomes a beer hall and our taps dominated by traditional German styles with 10 Oktoberfest brews pouring.

We kick off on Thursday night and beers will be flowing into proper steins all weekend and we’ve got food specials to keep you going from our Sidekick Food & Wine mates next door.

So dust off those lederhosen or dirndl and Bavarian drinking shoes and get amongst Oktoberfest!

Check out our new Sidekick! We’re taking our Food & Wine game up a notch in our old bottleshop space next door, with Sidekick Sandwiches slinging their tasty wares from 11.30am Wednesday-Sunday including this killer Fish Finger sanga on a milk bun.

And come the evening Sidekick switches into full Wine Bar mode with a carefully curated list of wines by the glass, and our new chef’s small plate menu launching next week.

Plus we’ve still got our ridiculously large selection of craft beers and wines by the bottle, and a sneaky good cocktail list too. Literally something for everyone!

Come say one final farewell to a Fitzroy icon! Our neighbours across the road at the venue formerly known as Bimbo (& Kewpie) have shut their doors for the last time, so we thought we’d throw a little farewell party at Near & Far!

In true Bimbo style we’ve got 6 banging DJ’s playing across 2 levels, with the shop rocking from 8-12pm and upstairs from 9-1am.

Plus we’ll have $5 slices slinging out the side window and even slushie cocktails to complete the full Bimbo experience!

What’s more South Aussie than launching a Frog Cake Ale to open up Pint of Origin SA! This Friday is your chance to be the first in the world to try a Frog Cake Ale so don’t miss out!

Not only is it green, but it’s a true homage to the iconic South Aussie dessert made pretty much forever by in Adelaide. We set out with to make it taste as close to a Frog Cake as possible and have nailed it using an Oat Cream base dosed with Vanilla beans, a dash of lactose and some secret syrups

Mismatch Head Brewer Tom Wood will be in the house from 5ish Friday so all will be revealed then after a few beers!

And if that’s not enough, we’ll have 20 other taps of South Aussie craft beer pouring too- most of them for the first time in Victoria!

☘️ It’s St Patrick’s Day this weekend and that means our annual GUINNESS ON TAP moment has arrived! As has become our tradition we’ll break our independent brewery rules and pop a keg of Ireland’s famous black stuff on our nitro tap to deliver you that perfect Guinness pour.
