Text book Munich Helles (a pale lager from Southern Germany) made according to the Reinheitsgebot. Bright, blonde, with flour/doughy malt and subtly floral hops for balance.

The new kids on the SA block officially opened in July 2021 in the suburb of, well, Bowden, and their beers have finally made it to Melbourne.

KURO LAUNCH & TASTING 🖤

It’s back. We’re happy. It’s Kuro. The O.G Molly Rose cult classic’s annual release always pairs perfectly with the change in seasons, and this year we’re celebrating its return with a tap takeover in the bar and a free bottle-o tasting in the shop.

Inspired by Japanese cuisine, this 6% dark lager features mountain ash smoked malt from Voyager balanced against splashes of umami laden kombu making for a delightful journey through beervana.

Bottle Shop Tasting with TODAY!

What is Piquette? It’s not wine. It’s a naturally fermented beverage using leftover grape skins after they’ve been used to make wine. It’s light, a little spritzy and very refreshing. It’s also low on alcohol, carbs and waste, and has no artificial flavours or colours.

PIQUE is made by Manon Houg. She’s a French national making Piquette in Melbourne using Victorian fruit and it’s the sustainable nature of Piquette production that inspires her. Her Piquette is equivalent to a mid-strength beer for a moderate buzz and tastes like a light, bubbly rosé.

Yuzu, Pineapple & Tangerine Gose, 4.3%
Surprise Jazz is a brand new gose-style sour, with Yuzu, Pineapple and Tangerine. It pours a stunning bright yellow colour, with a light haze and a fluffy white foam. On the nose, expect loads of fresh and zesty lemon that's interwoven with a subtle mandarin. On the palate we have oodles of citrus freshness - orange, lemon and tangerine, with a pineapple sweetness coming through on the backend of the palate to balance the tarntess. This one is ultimately crushable and perhaps can't be beaten for a summer sour to round out the hotter months.

🥭🤙🍑 NO PRESSURE
Hazy IPA | 6.5%
No Pressure is a brand new IPA dry hopped with Citra, Simcoe and Nelson. A punchy tropical treat with aromas of white peach, pink grapefruit and nectarine, leading into a sumptuously smooth mouth feel. Passionfruit pulp, sticky mango, spritzy white peach and candied citrus swirl across the palate in full frontal flavour experience. It’s clean flavours and all round balance makes this IPA one you’ll need to wrap your laughing gear around.

Helles Lager | 4.6%
Echoes is a Helles-style lager that's quickly become a favourite in-house. We've taken everything we love about some of our favourite Munich Helles and tried to elegantly emulate them. Soft notes of bready hops, super light and crystal clear colour, a light noble hop bitterness throughout with a fluffy white head. Close your eyes and imagine you're in Bavaria.

Follow the Festoons WCIPA 7.4%💡

Seaford could be easily mistaken for San Diego when sipping on this truly classic West Coast style IPA from Banks Brewing.

Jam packed with Simcoe, Columbus and Mosaic hops, it pours clear and golden, while holding a ton of body to anchor the citrus and pine notes. Sitting at a generous 7.4% with just a hint of bitterness, this is dangerously easy to drink!

Dry Hopped White Ale | 5%

Belgian Witbier is the oft-forgotten style in most breweries brew schedules. Similarly forgotten are The Wheatbelt States of America. They’re referred to by Americans on the east & west coasts as The Flyover States… coz you’d never actually go there… get it? But wheat beer is great. I used to drink Hoegaarden so much that I was *almost convinced to get the logo tattooed on my arm. Phwoar, what a time! Still, wheat beer is rad, you should drink more.

EXTRA SPECIAL BITTER 🇬🇧🍺

New kids on the block Boomcat Brewing from Ferntree Gully have knocked it out of the park with this malt-forward English Pale.

Founder Ian Fern is showing off his English roots by using Maris Otter malt for the base and East Kent Goldings for a traditional hop aroma and flavour profile. The UK yeast strain gives this belter some amazing jammy esters.

Melbourne Sake ‘22 releases! 🇯🇵

Melbourne Sake is Matt Kingsley-Shaw and Quentin Hanley. They are Australia’s first sake brewery (located right here in Brunswick!).

Their mission is to craft distinctly Australian sake, with Australian ingredients, for Australia.

As for the sake's themselves, they have two different bottlings this year:
"KH" 2022 - Koshihikari Rice
"TM" 2022 - Tachiminori Rice

Both Sakes are brewed EXACTLY the same way, so the differences are purely from the rice.

"KH" 2022 - Koshihikari Rice - Griffith, NSW
White flowers and red fruit on the nose. Delicate ricey grain character. Palate is much the same but with a more definitive savoury umami character. Acid is high for sake but relaxed and integrated.

"TM" 2022 - Tachiminori Rice - Nimbin, NSW (Biodynamic)
Way more green and wild grassy on the nose. Green yuzu, wind grass and savoury rice edge. Acid is much higher and tangier with the wildness very much to the fore.

Both releases on shelves now.

Pet Nat in a can – could it get any more raucous and fun?

Made from Albariño and Chardonnay, this pet nat is effervescent, clean and crisp, fruit forward and drinkable as hell.

This is a true pet nat, with primary ferment finishing in the can to create that lovely fizz and elevating the pure fruit and freshness in the wine. The Albarino really shines, and we’re getting all those lovely citrusy, floral characters you expect from this variety, as well as the salty, acid driven finish. The Chardonnay gives that nice citrus fruit character and complements the Albarino perfectly.

Made for straight from the can sipping or split between two glasses with your bestie/lover/drinking buddy.

Local legends Imogen and Chrissie are the producers behind this complex and lightly sparkling beverage with a tart fruit tingle acidity. It’s a subtle and savoury delight.

It’s made using an oolong tea base with honeybush, lemon myrtle, rose, pear juice, verjus, calamansi lime, monkfruit juice and roasted coriander.
