Ahoy me hearties!

We be sailing on the cusp of transitioning from flowering to fruit set, a crucial time for determining 2025 yield of Shiraz vines

Our Shiraz clusters in full bloom during flowering stage with tiny green flowers starting to open up, each one contains both male and female parts, allowing for self-pollination. Even though wine grapes are hermaphroditic, weather conditions like rain or cold can still affect how many flowers successfully turn into berries.

Once pollination happens, the ovaries of these flowers will start to swell, marking the beginning of fruit set, when the o***y of each flower swells and begins to transform into tiny grape berries. If conditions are right—warm and dry—we’ll see a good fruit set, where most of the flowers develop into grapes. However if the weather isn’t ideal, we may get fewer berries due to a phenomenon called "shatter" or coulure.
