The Kurri Kurri Speedway Club Inc made an application in the Play Our Way Program Grant Opportunity GO6763 under Stream 2: Participation and Equipment.
The Club Inc has been advised that the application has been successful.
The Kurri Kurri Speedway Club Inc has developed a program dubbed “EmpowerRide” that aims to increase women and girls’ participation in motorcycling sport and addresses identified barriers for participation – including participation in recreation riding, competition riding, participation as an official, participating in coaching and mentoring, participation in administration and participation as a volunteer.
The program is designed to focus on the basic grassroots aspects of planning, implementing conducting and evaluating motorcycle speedway and flat track activity both on and off the track as well as developing skills and knowledge as the program progresses.
Quotes attributable to Minister for Sport, Anika Wells:
“Play Our way is the single biggest package for women’s sport participation and facilities ever and these 120 projects will create greater opportunities for women and girls to enjoy being physically active.
“The huge response to this grant opportunity, and the range of great project ideas, show that Australian communities want to be more supportive of women and girls.
“These projects will address the fact that too many girls drop out of sport and never come back as women.
“I am confident the successful projects will have a major impact by signaling that every person has the right to enjoy sport, at every level.”
The first stage of the program will be to conduct an open online survey to identify the barriers to women and girls participating in motorcycle sport. This will set the benchmark for gauging the success of EmpowerRide.
**Stay connected to the Kurri Kurri Speedway official page for details on the stages of the program. The Club encourages its followers to support the project and “spread the word” to family and friends.
Bringing back the energy in 2025!
