Beer has been brewed on this monastic site since the 1500s. The current owners are third generation master brewers.
The current brewery owners founded in 1839 by butcher Georg Christoph Andreas. The plant, called Eschweger Klosterbrauerei (Monastic Brewery in Eschwege), located in one of the buildings of the former Augustinian monastery, built in the Gothic style.
