On the spot where the buffalo migration route crossed the Kentucky River, Buffalo Trace has been making legendary bourbon whiskey for over 200 years. Buffalo Trace is the oldest continuously operating distillery in America. During Prohibition the distillery was even permitted to remain operational, to make whiskey for “medicinal purposes”.

The distillery is the most awarded distillery in the world, and the site of Buffalo Trace is recognised as a National Historic Landmark in America, just like the Empire State Building and the White House.

When you’ve been distilling bourbon whiskey for this long, surely you’re onto something good?

Why has it gone viral? Well it seems to have gone viral completely by accident, with Gen Z’s picking up the wine due to its approachable price point. However, don’t think this is wine to leave to the Gen Z’s, it is hailed by many as consistently good tasting, and a memorable wine.

What we love mostly about wine, is diving into the stories behind the wine ~ where they come from and who made them.

It’s wineries like that show us how much history Australia’s wine industry has, and the multiple generations of families that have moulded the industry.

We currently range their 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2015 Shiraz.

The Berries
Introducing individual, whole raspberries, blackberries and blackcurrants — from where all of the sumptuous flavors are extracted.

XO Cognac
Next comes our distinctive XO Cognac, cask aged for at least 6 years. The Cognac’s dark fruit notes bring out the sweetness of the berries and create a well-rounded flavor.

Madagascan Vanilla
Then, the unmistakably rich and creamy flavors of vanilla.

Moroccan Citrus Peel
Next comes a lightning bolt of citrus, to give our liqueur its spark.

Honey
Now comes our smooth golden nectar, adding layers of rich sweetness.

Aromatic spices
And finally, a selection of fragrant herbs and spices including ginger, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon – each helping develop a deep and flavorful concentration

Established in 1983, Angelo and Wendy have now handed the reigns to their son Rob, now winemaker, Rob continues to strengthen Castle Rock Estate’s wines and future.

We are enjoying their 2022 Diletti Pinot Noir and 2023 Pinot Noir, both currently range on our shelves.

An incredible story about an impressive wine from @kalleske. Their Johann Georg Shiraz comes from an ancient vineyard on the Kalleske estate; “The vineyard was planted in 1875 and the gnarly, dry-grown vines produce extremely low yields. As this wine is from the oldest vineyard on our Kalleske farm, it is a fitting tribute to name the wine in honour of the first Kalleske to migrate to Australia. Johann Georg Kalleske migrated from Prussia to South Australia in 1838 aboard the Prince George. Johann’s descendants now meticulously tend the Johann Georg vineyard planted two centuries ago.
