TASSIE TIGER SUPER SEDAN TRAILS HEADS SOUTH!

The 2025 Tassie Tiger Super Sedan Trail will head to Australia’s most southern Speedway for the Grand National and round six of the NSSS National Super Sedan Series at AutoKlene Hobart Raceway.

An awesome line up of twenty six drivers are set to contest Australia’s longest running blue ribbon event, with five states being represented in the field.

National Champion Darren Kane will enter as one of the favourites after going to victory lane in the Grand Prix last weekend. Kane returns to his original home track looking to add to his five Grand National victories.

Kane will have to contend with Tasmanian Champion Callum Harper, who is the only driver to have been on the podium in both 2025 Tassie Tiger Super Sedan Trail events to date. Harper has won the Grand National three times, and will chase his fourth crown this weekend.

Matty Pascoe is another driver to have won the Grand National five times, and returned to form last weekend with a third placed finish in the Grand Prix. Pascoe will head to Hobart full of confidence after his strong showing last weekend.

Victoria’s Brock Atkins has been in great form across the last two weekends, finishing third in the Tasmanian, before being the top qualifier at the Grand Prix and coming home fifth. Atkins will make his first Super Sedan start in Hobart this weekend and will be looking for another strong showing aboard his Moons Earthworks Sweet Chassis.

Defending Grand National winner Brad Pascoe finished sixth in the Grand Prix last weekend, and will be hoping for an improved showing as he looks to become the first driver to go back to back in the Grand National since his Dad in 2020 & 2021.

Queensland’s Sean Black looked to be on for a good result in the Grand Prix, before a right rear shock failure ended his charge. Black has been on the Grand National podium twice, and will look to go to victory lane for the first time at the event this weekend.

Tasmanian veteran David Nichols is the winningest driver in Grand National history, as he stands alone with six victories. Nichols will chase his first Grand National win for twenty five years, with his last win coming in 2000.

Michael Hally crossed the line fourth in the Grand Prix last weekend. Hally also has a previous best finish of fourth in the Grand National, so Hally will chase his first Tasmanian podium this weekend.

Tyson Moon, Mick Nicola, Zac Pascoe, Steve Jordan, Darren Saunders and Mitch Rigney round out the interstate contingent in the field, with Saunders and Rigney looking to make their first feature races of the Tassie Tiger Super Sedan Trail.

Steve Latham, Luke Gunn, Wayne Dillon, Marcus Alexander, Corey Jetson and Nathan Howells will fly the flag for the home state as they all chase their first Grand National victories.

The Grand National will kick off on Friday night with three rounds of heat races and two fifteen lap preliminary features.

On Saturday, two additional rounds of heats and the much anticipated pole shuffle will determine the grid for the fifty lap main event.

Fans unable to attend can catch every lap live on Clay-Per-View.

DEFENDING CHAMP ON TOP AFTER NIGHT ONE!

Defending Grand Prix winner Brad Pascoe leads the way after the opening night of the Gulf Western & Independent Oils Grand Prix and round five of the NSSS National Super Sedan Series at Latrobe Speedway - Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway.

National Champion Darren Kane kicked off the night in ominous form as he chases his first Grand Prix victory. Kane dismantled the field, taking the win in heat one by almost six and a half seconds from fellow Queenslander Zac Pascoe in second, and Tasmanian Gil Aylett in third.

Michael Hally made it two from two for Queensland in heat two. Taking out a hard fought victory from Tasmanian duo Grant Hopkins in second, and Lee Aylett in third.

Mick Nicola continues to show great form in his KO Chassis, taking out a great win in heat three. New Tasmanian Champion Callum Harper was next across the line in second, ahead of Luke Gunn in third.

Pascoe signalled his intentions early with a dominant win in heat four. Pascoe crossed the line five and a half seconds clear of Tasmanian Wayne Dillon in second, and Brock Atkins in third.

Josh Piscioneri picked up the biggest heat win of his career to date, taking out a hard fought win in heat five. Hally crossed the line just 0.197 seconds back in second, ahead of Corey Jetson in third.

Matty Pascoe made the most of the his front row start to take the victory in heat six. Harper was next across the line in second, for his second runner up finish of the night, ahead of Nicola in third.

2023 Grand Prix winner Sean Black marked his Tasmanian return with a heat race win in heat seven. Marcus Alexander hounded Black all the to cross the line second, ahead of ‘The Joker’ Steve Jordan in third.

Atkins continued his strong form with a victory in heat eight. Atkins was too good for Zac Pascoe in second, and Brad Pascoe in third.

Alexander set a rapid pace to claim the win in heat nine. Alexander got the best of fellow Tasmanian Steve Latham in second, and Black in third.

Brad Pascoe became the first dual heat winner of the weekend when he took out a comfortable win in heat ten. Jordan was next across the line in second, ahead of Dillon in third.

Kane joined Pascoe as a two time heat winner in heat eleven, leading the way from Atkins in second, and Gunn in third.

Tasmanian veteran David Nichols closed out the night one heat race action with a win in heat twelve after starting from fifth. Nichols led home Aylett in second, and Hally in third.

Kane and Atkins qualified on the front row for the evens preliminary feature and they put on a heck of a show in the early going.

Kane and Atkins ran the opening five laps side by side with multiple lead changes taking place. Kane led laps one and two, before Atkins would lead laps three and four, when Kane reclaimed the lead on lap five and would finally clear away into the race lead.

Harper having started from third took the runner up spot from Atkins on lap six. Harper stalked Kane on the bottom, before shifting to the top side and railing the cushion to take the lead with four laps to run.

Harper went on to greet the chequers for the win, from Kane in second, Black in third, Matty Pascoe in fourth, with Atkins rounding out the top five.

Brad Pascoe would start the odds preliminary feature from pole, with fellow Queenslander Hally joining him on the outside.

Pascoe jumped out to the lead, with Hally looking to build momentum on the top side to slingshot into the lead.

Nicola joined the battle as he took second from Hally only for the caution light to come on relegating him back to third for the restart.

Pascoe cleared away at the restart to take out the odds feature.

It was the Zac Pascoe show after the restart racing from sixth to second in the final six laps to complete the Pascoe one, two finish. Nicola rounded out the podium in third, from Hally in fourth and Nichols in fifth.

The drivers will return this evening for a further two rounds of heats, the ever popular pole shuffle, and the fifty lap Gulf Western & Independent Oils Grand Prix main event.

If you cannot make it to the track every lap will be streamed live on Clay-Per-View.

Thirty one drivers representing all six states will convene on Latrobe for the 50th Anniversary of the Grand Prix, which will also be round five of the NSSS National Super Sedan Series.

Seven former Grand Prix winners are in the field, including 2024 Grand Prix winner Brad Pascoe who will look to go back to back in the Grand Prix, and rebound from his DNF in the Tasmanian Title last weekend.

Pascoe will have to contend with freshly minted Tasmanian Champion Callum Harper who is the only driver to have won the Grand Prix four times. Harper will chase his fifth Grand Prix victory this weekend.

Matty Pascoe is a three time Grand Prix winner, last winning the event back in 2020. Pascoe will look to join Harper as a four time winner of the Grand Prix come Saturday night.

Queensland’s Sean Black returns to Tasmania this weekend after winning the Grand Prix in 2023. Black finished fifth in the Ian Boettcher Classic last time out, and will be hoping to bring that form to the Apple Isle this weekend.

Tyson Moon qualified on pole position for the Tasmanian Title before ultimately coming up short in the feature race. Moon will hope to bounce back and go to victory lane on Saturday night at Latrobe.

15/01/2025

Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway is back this Saturday with a big field of over 50 Production Sedans for the Cush Clothing Money in the Bank that doubles as the Moore Trailers Champions Series. This is one of only a few remaining shows at the venue for Production Sedans before the National Title is held here in April.

Current Queensland Champion Josh Harm leads the charge but has an amazing ray of drivers from right across Queensland, New South Wales & Victoria this weekend. Joel Berkley, Kaine Richters, Murray Dioth, Nathan Barbeler, Brodie Hollyman, Jaiden Healey and whole host of other drivers including Aidan Raymont who jumps into one of the Bayfield Falcons this Saturday afternoon. After the heat races, the top 6 drivers will contest the dash, with the dash winner receiving the opportunity to pocket $500 cash and invert to the entire feature race field and race for $5,000 to win instead of $1,500 to win. If the dash winner takes the challenge, the feature race will be increased from 30 laps to 40 laps giving them 10 extra laps to get to the front.

Street Stocks and Junior Sedans will also be racing at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway this Saturday Night.

QUALITY FIELD FOR PRODUCTION TITLE

It may have taken just over two and a half decades, but the SSA Production Sedan WA Title finally returns to the Tyres & More Esperance Speedway next weekend and with a quality field of forty two nominations received, it is sure to be a great weekend of racing.

With thanks to the team at Westerns Fuels Group, the Australia Day weekend just got hotter, with the nominations headed by Kye Blight who defends the title he first won at Manjimup back in late January 2023 and then defended successfully in Carnarvon at Easter last year.

Blight is just the third driver to win the event on more than two occasions and this weekend looks to equal his SSWA Hall of Famer father Darren’s efforts having achieved the feat on four occasions (including claiming the inaugural title) and drawing just one win behind fellow SSWA Hall of Famer Ron Belfield who has five wins.

The-only other former Production Sedan State Champion in the field is Australian Champion Kyle Sayer, who claimed the win at Karratha’s Nickol Bay Speedway in the 2021/22 season.

Other notable entries in the field include former Australia #2 and #3 Kane McDiarmid, as well as previous State Title placegetters Clint Noakes, Graeme McSweeney, Wayne Leviston, Josh Fraser, and Jake Blight, who have all claimed third places in the event, Jake Blight in particular having achieved the feat the last two years in a row.

Of course, there is a fierce contingent of prominent drivers looking to make their way to the top once again.

Broome’s Jorj Park has been in scintillating form recently with a win at the Albany 5000 not to mention a feature race win here not long ago, while Murray Iwanow has recently returned to the Production Sedan seat and has been racing with distinction, so a State Title win would be a just reward. Iwanow, is one of three drivers, along with Linton Dickerson and Jeff Dickerson in the field this weekend who qualified for the 2002 National Production Sedan Title A Main held at Esperance so will be hoping to recreate that form.

Another driver in Dion Hand was also racing in that show and will be hoping to turn back the clocks come feature time while fellow veteran Mike Kinnear has a huge history with Production Sedans and will be adding another chapter next weekend.

Drivers have come from all around the State and will converge here in the southern region over this Australia Day weekend to try and wrestle the #1 away, including Karratha’s Jack McAuley, Narrogin’s Brody Day, Geraldton’s Mitchell Baker and Collie’s Rickie Nuccini amongst many other well-travelled drivers all looking to make a big trip worthwhile.

The locals also make up a huge part of this weekend’s field, with Josh Stewart and Bronty Humphrys two of the most experienced drivers in the field when it comes to running Senior State Titles at the Esperance Speedway, while names like Jacky Maroney, the Macalpine brothers Josh and Hamish, and Wade Rigney all hoping to make an impact.

The Title weekend kicks off on Friday the 24th with practice, while racing will begin with heat races the next night before the all-important finals are held on Australia Day.
