From today, anyone who assaults or threatens a retail worker in South Australia will face harsher penalties.
The maximum term of imprisonment has increased from 3 years to 5 - if the offender causes serious harm, they now face 7 years behind bars.
It is now the same punishment that those who assault transport and health workers face.
